Is it possyble to make a ship fire all its weapons if 1 of then can target a enemy


ex...
if i create a sphere like ship and add 40 ions all over it and wanne it to fire all ions if 1 of them can fire

Nice thinking, but flawed :)

Weapons can only fire if a target comes within thier area of vision or targetting. Weapons on the other side of the ship which are pointing away and on the other side of the hull *cannot* target and thus do not fire.

Unless u give them specific arcs so they dont turn into the ship.

no stupid i meant if 1 ion can fire all other will fire and i mean mounted ions non turet ions like a anti fighter


so half of the ions will fire at nothing

Ahh, well, in that case...

Here's an idea to try: make every weapon after the first a slave to that weapon. Maybe when the first fires, all the others will fire, too.

So you mean once one weapon gets a lock, the ship goes berserk and fires randomly in all directions?? Like one of them disco-balls?

It is not a bad request. .most weapons (reserve beams) take time to reach the target and can hit other targets along the way. So, if a ball/ship of weapons come into range one weapon Will be in range first BUT the others JUST out of range (barely) IF the attacking ship is move toward the firing ship then the chance for the other weapons that where fired out of range (just) will actually HIT since the range would decrease greatly during the flight of the weapon. (the longer the range and the faster the ship the greater the chance) also it might be desirable to fire Missile weapons at max+ range and have them detonate with a radius effect, or even spawn mines or other weapons . .

CORRECT IS THAT POSSYBLE

and all the ion arne mounted so it would be a nightmare for all fighters
becuse that would be awsome

No even slave weapons will not fire if the target is dead or out of reach, angular or range. Even if you set the slave wait to 0 it won't fire if it doesn't have a target unless you can set slave guns to a diferent orientation than master. Even then the slave relationship means the slave gun will try to track the master target. Not sure though about it...

Even if it is possible, its useless.

Weapons like ionbeams cant even hit fighters and when one of thes things go beserk and hit schips it will probabely you're own fleet ;)

Well it wont damage your ships.

Also, I put the keeper ion cannons on the HBC and noticed that they fire straight through the ship.. looks pretty stupid.

I set friendly fire to 100% in my mod. But ionbeams hit enemy strikecraft look at the ion platform. And if you want more just change the accuracy which is coded in a way to ignore range and speed and stuff. Only a random number.

Well I put them instead of the port and starboard kinectic guns. And the suckers just aim at everything, even fire upward through their casing... Looks weird. anyway, i just did it for fun because the keepers pissed me off, so I tuned the BC a little to kick their collective asses.

Try this as a workaround:

Have your ship fire a missile that clusters into several dozen submunitions (maybe 50+). Give it a clusterdistance equal to the weapon's range so that it will cluster upon firing. Give it a clusterangle of 180 so that the submunitions will launch in every direction.

For the submunitions, make them all missiles with a launchtime equal to their lifetime so that they don't actually track anything. You'll probably want to remove their engine trails and ignite effects.

This won't be perfect, as the submunitions won't emit from the ship itself, but at least you'll get shots flying in every direction.

Fine if you want ions. Just take my idea and get it to work with ions, then. You don't have to be so rude about it--it was just an idea to get you started in hopefully the right direction.
