Well, I've the same problem with every Warhammer 40k versions! like Soulstorm,Dark crusade, winter assault and Dawn of war 1...

Here's what I do before I meet the problem:
I start the game from the desktop.
I wait until the main menu comes on.
Then I click multiplayer.
Online.
then come's the part "checking for the latest versions" w/e.
Then it founds one.
I press download.
and It's stuck on 100% in the beginning what the hell!
I've download'd This to xp with no problems!
But this fucking vista wont Download the fucking patch! for fuck's sake... I've tried to find the patch's from the internet!
But no!

What the fuck I need to do I'm so sick of this!
:disgust:

The solution is infact to manually patch the game up.
Yes this required you to download the patches off the internet but by the sounds of things you've had problems with that also?

From your desktop right click on Soulstorm icon and click "Run as Adminstator". This should fix your problem :D

The patches are easy to find on the internet - what problems have you been having with that?

sonichi's solution may fix the issue for you, but its a common problem and I have seen people on XP have it as well. It is presumeably caused by a variety of different security setups blocking the game from downloading files - running the game without administrator priviledges on Vista may be one of those.
