SS Problems.

I recently purchased DoW: SS Direct to Drive and have tried to patch to use the excellent looking mods this forums offers. I'm able to download the patches (1.00 to 1.10 and 1.00 to 1.2), but when I go to install, it gives me an unable to patch error. (The error code is: 10242)

Is there a work around for this or am I stuck?

Are you downloading the patches from a website and installing them manually?
If so try patching the game internally by going online in SS

And vice versa.

At this point I do not know what to do, I've tried installing both ways, and neither will work. Any suggestions? Or am I stuck playing the base game by itself.

VSA have you tried using your CD key and downloading the game off steam?

It sounds like there's something conflicting with the patcher? Aside from going back and trying the steam version, have you tried reinstalling your copy of soulstorm?

Likewise did you try and install ANY of the mods before patching the game? Any mods could have easily fruited up the install and made patching a royal pain.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. When I try to install the patch, it tells me to go to "trymedia" for the patch itself, whatever company that is.

No there were no mods preinstalled.

Where would I find the key for the game in the DoW file folder?

The CD key is written into the registry (search for "THQ").

The trymedia version of the game cannot use the normal patches - you will need to contact them for their patches.

I can't patch it through normal means, but I can run the mods just fine. So take that for what you will.
