Missing research (marines)

I recently installed a fresh retail copy of the Dark crusade, and patched to 1.1, then 1.2. After starting a new game as the space marines, I noticed that after researching power swords, nothing took its place. The same is true of bionics and target finders, after research the first level of either, the second does not appear.
I also own Soulstorm and DoW gold, both of those have the research that is missing from DC, were they omitted, or have I encountered a bug?

There is only 1 target finders and bionics research (in DC). About the power fists, try researching the monastary hq upgrade then checking the amoury.
