Its a big Ork Infested Rokk of doom.

I started this map by loading angel gate, deleting all splats, splines, and objects. I imported my own height map and painted the base tile layer. The scar markers in the map create the fire, smoke and cloud FX.

It looks nice: have you got any other picks?

Thumbs up for the original concept. I'm looking forward to this one :)

I can't take credit for the concept really. There are a few dow 1 maps with the same idea. Still the power of world builder is making this map fun. If only custom skies were possible though... Just playing through it for bugs now. I'll release a test version soon.

Well, most maps so far are sticking closely to the standard tilesets. Yours seems to break the mold a bit, reminding me of the creative and diverse user-created scenarios of DoW1.

Quick first impressions:
Visual style is great, map edges suggesting a sphere, any construction looking rickety and looted - dats orky!
Fog settings might be too aggressive, it's hard to make out ressource points and terrain through the fog of war.
Shot-blockers/choke-points on the sides might help to focus the action more. Of course, playing with the AI is never a real indication, but it feels a bit too open for me.
There's a spot at an inner ramp where units shortly drop to the lowest level.

thanks for the feedback sporty!

I have updated the beta with a new version.

-fixed some issues with buildable areas around power gens
-removed offensive cover close to bases
-fixed bug with units dropping into the pit :murph:
-extended fog distance
-added a few rock formations to provide some shot blocking terrain

The map is still pretty wide open, but the rocks add a little something to hide behind, as well as visual landmarks.
