1) How many people actually tried my Cata AI Update? Just curious... (It's at the Guidestone)
2) I'm sure you know of the fact that there's a little proggie called sysmon in the Winduhs folder. (This is Win98 btw) I started a log and for some reason, it shows an "unused physical memory" log which stabilizes on or around 42 MB. 42 MB!?!? Jesus, this is a 128 MB RAM system! And no, I'm not running any other programs. Does anyone know wtf this is all about? Maybe this is why Cata is so slow? :| Help me. (If you can)
3) Btw pls do not lock this thread. I don't know of any other ppl to ask for help.

1. Update probably belongs in Editing.
2. Win98 question probably belongs in bug reports.
I don't really play HW that often anymore, so I haven't, but if I did still play Cata, I probably would have...
As for the 42 MB, Cata might be very slow due to your graphics card memory, or your proccessor. If you have a 486, it wouldn't be a surprise that it runs slow...
Posting other specs would help...

Any game we play nowdays would certainly benefit from massive amount of ram, but with already 128 you should not be suffering much framerates from the lack of ram available, and the only noticeable difference I noticed jumping from 64 to 160 megs of ram is that it loads a heck of a lot faster.
Windows uses something called a swap file, used as supplement to your available RAM. Most if not all windows 98 computers, whether they ahve a gig or 64 megs of ram, will be using some of that swap file on harddrive. Which is of course, a lot slower compared to your ram. Whenever you run a game certain things loaded in your ram tend to get dumped to your swap file to make room for the game itself (ever noticed sometimes after closing certain games or programs, others take a heck of a lot more grinding to start up). Win98 also manages memory by keeping a part of your ram available in case you want to launch more progs, this is what I suspect is happening with your 40 some thing megs of ram being free most of the time.
Win98 also uses static allocation of ram for GDI resources crap, that more often than not has given people more problems in day to day operation than the fact that you are running out of real ram. Here is where NT(XP) really comes to shine... but I digress...
There are literally tons of available tweaks for Windows 98, one of which I think you will find useful (or not), depending on your situation. Open up MS Config and goto system.ini
scroll down to 386enh section and add ConservativeSwapFileUsage = 1 (if its 0 change it to 1)
Windows 98 handles memory differently than windows 95, and this supposedly forces it to revert back to the old way and fill up your RAM to its best ability before making use of your swap file. Although I think now is the time to get out there and get another stick, I think the improvement is worth it (also ditching 98, hows that).
