Good luck everyone! If survival isn’t enough of a challenge for you, The Last Stand Highest Score Contest is sure to present you with more competition than you can shake a bolter at. You have a limited amount of time to achieve the highest score, and have it stand for 24 hours in order to win, here are the details: How to enter: Post a screenshot of the end game screen, showing your score from the game, in this thread to enter for a chance to win:
http://community.dawnofwar2.com/forums/topic/34771
The contest will run from October 26, 2009 to November 9, 2009. On November 9, at 11:00am PST, the highest score will be announced here on our community site as the winning candidate, but in order to be declared the winner it must stand for 24 hours. Players will have this time to try and beat the score. If a new high score is set during this time, it will be listed as the new winning candidate and the 24 hour countdown will start again. This is to help prevent players from sitting on a really high score until the end of the contest deadline. Once a score has held up as the highest for this 24 hour period, it will be declared the winner and announced on the Dawn of War II Community site. Prizes: Each member of the three player winning team will receive: 1) A Dawn of War II poster signed by the development team. 2) A Dawn of War II t-shirt.

After Wave 20 contest, now a Highest score contest. Is TLS already beginning to decline, therefore Relic needs this announcement?
How do you think guys is the best way to achieve the highest score?
Are you going to participate?

Its just a fun contest, the rewards aren't that awesome anyway. Besides, I already have a DOW2 t shirt.

ive always thought that there is always just 1 main high score and thats it.
keeping the 2 points always. having no one die. killing off the enemy as quickly as possible to keep the blue 3.5x timer up. will only present 1 high score.

any mistakes and thats it. you miss out on a t-shirt.

haha.

no im not going to participate. last stand was a massive let down with inbalanced levels, a lack of variety and tactical choice and generally a lack of polish.

a highscore contest is a crappy way to extend game play time.

Rewards aren't that awesome? are you kidding? I'd LOVE to win a signed poster, and a t-shirt would be a pretty cool bonus on top of that (can never have too many t-shirts).

Inbalanced levels? isnt that the point? I quite liked it but wont be participating in this. Tactics and high scores dont go hand in hand, and id rather play the game for fun and difficulty than adopt the winning combo and blast as fast as poss.

Gah, if there was a GW model involved idé be in, but a t-shirt and a poster aint too shazzy...

Still it is a prize for free content so, lets not complain.

So in theory, no one can win if it has to stand for 24 hours and the high score comes in on the last day...

I think that the 24 hour thing starts on the last day, so until then they simply take submissions, once the "deadline" hits, they announce the highest score so far and then it has to stand for 24 hours.

24 hour rule is so that if someone reaches the (theoretical) highest score possible today, the don't need to wait until the deadline to declare him the winner.

So if any score isn't beaten for 24 hours, it wins.

Inbalanced levels? isnt that the point?

my bad poor description. i meant a poor difficulty curve, the first 1-8 levels are jokingly easy, and the game only really begins around level 9.

You know, I wonder how they will stop people from photoshopping winning numbers in since all that's required is a screenshot.

I assume they can compare the screen with their data grabbed from the leaderboards and player profile stats - as they did with the first Last Stand competition.

I'd like to compete for the fun of it, but my friends and I suck (relative to some of the people with 9mil points, heh)

Not even close. Competitions are not a sign of lack of/declining life, but of the contrary; being healthy.

I'm definitely going to be going for this. Got 4 million earlier tonight with some uncoordinated random teammates - tomorrow we're actually going to work together properly. Should be fun, and I'm wondering how many people are actually going to be going for this. I think most would-be competitors are intimidated by the 8.3 million in place.

It terms of a best build for high score, its seems that this would be it. Use the teleport to get the SMs into the little south nooks. Use taunt to keep enemies off the points. Primary the ranged units first. Taunt the melee units.

2x SM, 1 Eldar

SM:
Weapon: Plasma Cannon
Armor: +5% point token
Accessroy: +5% point token
Accessory: +75 Health
Accessory: Purity Seal
Command: +5% Point

Eldar:
Weapon: +25 Mana, +0.3 Regen
Weapon:+30% damage, +25% speed
Armor: +5% point token
Accessroy: +5% point token
Accessory: Teleport
Accessory: Conceal
Command: +5% Point or Mass Confuse

That's a really impressive score. Their tactics made me try using taunt again and it is a really handy skill. I could see how that could work really well (ranged resurrection interrupt? yes please) and be worth one of those precious accessory slots.
