he was created in the time period bc by the death of many shamans and this was in turkey
he lived among humans for mellinia on earth holding positions of great power fadeing into and out of public eye
he united the war torn earth mellinia in the future
he was betrayed by some of his genetic sons the primarch space marines
during the final battle of this heresy he was mortally wounded but so geat was his power that he dident die
he was sealed in the golden throne on earth now called terra to keep him alive

i remember someone saying something like "the longer the emperor's soul's in the warp the weaker he grows"

He's a godlike being that helped out humanity by uniting them and fought against the likes of Chaos and other xenos beings. After the Horus Heresy he was put into stasis, and now to stay alive he consumes the souls of 1000 psykers a day. His current job is using his psychic powers to guide all the ships in the universe around in the warp, sorta like a great, central navigator.

Also read this (http://seg-tyr.m4d.sm/wh40k/timeline40k/horus_heresy2.htm) , originally printed in an old white dwarf and the second lost&damned book - it's a fantastic and short story of the emperor battling Horus.
Top Story.

to be exact, all shamans on earth joined their souls to create a single soul. this soul manifested itself in a child born in turkey.
*edit* too lazy to dig out a link, but its in the backgground section of criticalhit.

No, as it was around 8,000 BC which is only a little bit (cue sarcasm) before the Qu'ran was created or the Bible for that matter try to read the links people post next time. It might help.

In a (40K) political sense, he is no more than a figurehead for the Lords of Terra. They have the true power.

Silk, yeah he's definitely out of the loop as far as the political leadership of the Imperium goes. I would say though that, besides the crucial importance of the Emperor for interstellar navigation, the Emperor is the key to the spiritual strength of the Imperium, especially as regards the fight against Chaos.

The Emperor is god-like to the Imperium. If people found out he was dead, then they would have nothing to believe in.

The emperor isn't totally dead, it's just that the link between his mind and his body get more and more tenuous with each passing second. That would that major reason the thousands upon thousands of psykers are sacrificed to him each day, so their psionic power can strengthen his minds hold on his body. Without that he would totally fall off into the warp and humanity would be screwed. Hence the description of the imperium in most of the recent novels, and some allusions to him as "the carrion lord".

Now GW is alluding to the possibility that his soul has broken with his body and that the Astronomican and Astropaths are maintained by other means. This of course is a hinted at very vaugely so that no one can be sure. The rebirth or death of the Emperor in fact is the central conflict in that Inquisitor game. Lots of interesting fluff in the Inquisitor rule book....

Interesting sites, nice Imperium Propoganda. Billions of humans dying for and in the name of a parasite. Really, its touching. Join Chaos, at least you know yer boss is a bastard. Or I suggest finding a nice little Genestealer cult. C'mon you know you want that violet glow to your skin. Although it seems now GW is doing away with that look, or adding various looks. Still, I think the Parasite Emperor is gonna stay for a good while. No real reason to add more fluff.

The Emperor was born in Anatolia, which is the region currently occupied by Turkey. Over the periods, it has been Greek, Persian, Roman etc but he was created before nations were born.

Yeah the Imperium is a nasty place to live in. Especially if you happen to be a psyker. You either die, go blind or possible serve as a conduit for a daemon to come through into reality and tear everything to hell. There's some nice links to fluff here http://toplist.librarium-online.com/ also a bunch of stuff site about the game itself.

the emperor was born in the 8th-9th mellenia B.C., and seeing as islam wasn't created until 682(?) C.E., obviously the emperor isn't a moslum, christian, jew or even a hindu(being the oldest major religion created a good 1500yrs+ before judaism).

do you know where judism came from :P i do :D:D
hmmm, i wouldn't be surprised if becasue he was created before any major "religion" that maybe all religions ere founded on the belief that he was a living god :P
or you could even perceive this 41st millenium as archiologist see the story of anubis and horus (basically that even though its a story that has a beginning , middle and end, that it didn't hapen in the past but its happening right now)... meh jsut a theory

if you really delve deeply into the history of both the current real world and the 40k universe, you'll see hundreds of thousands of parallels...
example:
jesus is believed by many(most?) jews to have been a very enlightened person, rather than the son of god as w/ christians. it is a well known fact that jesus was a jew. the jews, then, are "related" to jesus in the sense that they shared the same religion.
the emperor is believed to have been a very enlightened man, rather than a god, as w/ the imperial cult and the ecclesiarchy. it is a well known fact that, the primarches were the emperor sons, and the space marines are their respective primarch's sons(genetically in both cases). ergo, the s.marines are in a way "related" to the emperor in the sense that they shared the same genes...
get it?
