the entire planet is one big mega structor but it is not all the palace the palace is roughly the size of one continent the rest are administratum buildings and shrines

Except that the Astronomican and the Navigators have big chunks (the Himalayas and the Pacific or Carribean respectively if memory serves). The Golden Toilet is often considered to be above the (former) site of Willow Road, Lenton, Nottingham but that's just artistic licence really.
