I get very many complaints about my army being sooooooo cheap (cheap refering to unfair) I think they are not fair and some guys at GW say they have way to many good rules, is anyone else conquering this problem or having it? (they may say it is cheap because i only lost 2 games with them but i would like to know other peoples info) They espesialy complain about the shapshooters doctrine! :nana:

Tell them to get good. To paraphrase another post on this subject (not from here)

"If I'm having trouble with an opponents army I modify my own army and tactics to deal with it. It's up to them to field a good force, not for me to field an army consisting purely of guardians"

That made no sence to me but i sure do agree! but still i tell them that and they lose and say "IG IS FRIGGEN CHEAP!"

as you can read in my forums (the posting people are the people a VRS) http://sphincter.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=Allteam&action=display&num=1078518515

the sharp shooters rule is what makes them so cool
like the jungle fighters rule makes the baby ogryns so cool
its just what makes the IG the IG.
all it means is if you miss then you can re-role but only once...
i know GW pretty much forgot the other IG regements but they have plenty of time to change this

"but still i tell them that and they lose and say "IG IS FRIGGEN CHEAP"
well in that case they can go and cry some where else!

Cadians? cheap? whaat?! I mean for real these people must be bitter about losing, it is not hard to adjust tactics to win or at least make it quite a good game... unless they are running and army of gaunts towards a tank heavy force with lots of ordenance on an 8x4 table longways. In that case they are just stupid. For real though I like the philosophy that there is no cheesy army, only an army you havnt learned how to beat. Plus if a person is a powergamer or an abusive rules lawyer, cheater, etc etc. Just dont play with them, of course calling an entire army cheesy is just an excuse for losing to make someone feel better about themselves and why they lost.

These are the same sort of guys who complain in FPS games, however you manage to beat them, they'll make it sound like that tactic is unfair. If you shoot them with rockets, you are a "rocket b*tch," if you shoot them from cover you are a "camping b*tch," etc. It's simply immaturity, they can't take losing so they come up with all sorts of bogus excuses to soften the blow. Either ignore them or find better opponents.

No army is really better then the other army(except if is 2,500 points and the others is 500) it just depends on how you use them(your tactics) ;) ;) ;)

i agree with FeloniousPunk
These sorts of people will turn a good fair tactic into a "n00b" tactic but in reality it is just them being sore losers

You know what I'm starting to feel like? I'm starting to take pride in the fact when people call my army cheap and I know I didn't literally try to exploit some loophole in the rule. That means it's to the point where they can't even think of a way to beat my army. Take pride in it. Imperial Guard are no "cheaper" than any other army in the game, period. In fact, they're just as balanced as any OTHER army. Time and time again I've seen armies that I thought were tatically deficient surprise even me, and it's led me to hold little credit to the idea of this "uber-army that's so cheap nobody else can beat it" that some folks seem to carry around. Forgive me for sounding arrogant--I run IG, I win some, I lose some. Always to the general I'm playing--never to some cheap army. I take pride in saying I out-thought a general and I take pride in being beaten, because I don't resort to whining to the person I'm playing about how their army is broken.

As for the GW thing about them saying they have "Good rules"--don't worry about that or take it as them being cheap. GW staff has to stay away from the cheapness argument--they're told to. Most of them don't believe there are any broken armies and find the concept privately ridiclious. Believe me, the Imperial Guard are *not* cheap.

Now the Necrons? THAT be cheap.

...Kidding. Kidding, please don't flay me alive Necron players.

the GW staff are in the shop most of the week so that should give em more than enough time to think up a way to beat you.......and besides why not be a rocket bi*ch or a campin bi*ch.... i love to hear them whine :soul: ....and the rules are the rules theres no such thing as a "cheap" army if its within the rules

 ahhh thats better

yeah, its so pathetic that people say this, ive seen someones space marines get slaugtered by imperial gaurd cause it was all anti horde and the imperial gaurd was mainly tanks. he then proceeded to call the imperial guard player cheap for making an all tank army aside from the 1hq and 2 troop choices, but really it was his own fault, if he didnt know what he was up against he should have taken an all round army, and it didnt help that he was pretty much standing still but paying for lots of close combat capabilities.

and im not sure exactly how the specific 'cheap' rule works, but it sounds like they get to reroll a few misses a turn, and whenever ive played IG they have had alot of misses

I also play IG. I have lost most of my games. But not due to defieciency in my army list or in my ability as a general. Its is because when i play a social game I play to the spirit of the game. I use my troops in a way that i feel they would in the field in reality.

On the other hand. When I play in tournaments I play all out. Playing with an army a lot would term "cheap". That is due tot the fact that it IS a tournament and therefore a competition. The point is to play fair and also to win. I dont cheat and I am not a rules lawyer. But i can pull together some nasty armies.

My point?? Well it is this. Warhammer 40K is a game. You can play to win or play for fun. You can even do both. But those who say you are playing a cheap army should take a real look at your army and also at the environment they are playing in. If it is a campaign, then they should play to the spirit. If it is a competition, then they should play to win, just like everybody else should be.

-note:sorry if my point is unclear to anyone!!! :fight:

I totally agree. A lot of people I know (not saying any names) think that the Eldar are mega cheap. It's not that they're cheap, they're just GOOD. They may seem unfair, but my 1 squad of Dark Reapers costs almost 300 points. They do have a drawback, and that's their point cost. Every unit in the game has a drawback. If people call your army cheap it just means that they either can't figure out how to kill your guys, or they're not doing the right things. Don't pay any attention to what other people say if they're sore losers. Take pride in the fact that you played well.
