My game doesnt seem to be installing correctly. After the 3rd disc finishes I see the message, publishing product information, then it goes to desktop and does nothing else.
It doesnt put a shortcut on desktop so i have to go into the THQ folder and manually put it to desktop. The game runs fine but when I try to go to multiplayer I get the message, CD Authentication failed. Also when i put the #1 disc in I get the install screen, it doesnt go to a play screen, i have to click it off and click the shortcut to get the game to play.
I tried calling the help line that is in the rulebook and when i enter the code for DOW it gives the message that they are having technical difficulty please call later and hangs up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

SlowDan:
It sounds like it's not done the registry entry for your CD key.
Are you comfortable using the Registry Editor? If you are, I can supply instructions how to create the key manually.

Im not to familiar with it. I may just return it for another copy and see if it is just a bad copy.
Double Post
But if you think you can walk me through it i can try the registry.

Uber,
It might be better then to just supply him a .reg file for him to just add to the registry. Just have him email or PM you his key and either manually create it or export yours and substitute his key in place of yours.
You would need his install path and CD-Key but from that info you should be able to create the .reg file for him.

Yes, but this way, he learns something new, and doesn't have to worry about sending out his Key...
SlowDan:
Go to Start>Run... type REGEDIT and hit enter/click ok.
When the Registry Entry window opens, you'll have two panes (like windows explorer),with the keys on the left side, and the data on the right.
First we'll check to see if there's a Dawn of War key.
On the left, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click the plus beside it.
Again on the left, under HKLM (short form of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE), find SOFTWARE, and click the plus beside it.
Now on the left, under HKLM\Software, locate a THQ Entry. If you can't find THQ, then the key's not there. If THQ is there, click the plus beside it, and you should see Dawn of War. Clicking on it should fill the right pane with Data, look for a CD Key entry.
If you did not find the THQ entry, we need to create it. So, on the left side, Click on the Software Folder.
Click on Edit>New>Key... this should create a key at the bottom of the list that's ready for you to Type... Type in THQ and hit Enter.
Right click on the New THQ folder, and select New>Key.
Name this new folder Dawn of War and hit Enter.
Now with the Folder Created, right click on it and go New>String Value.
You'll see it come in on the right side, name it CDKEY and hit enter.
Once it's created, you can either hit enter, or right click on it and hit modify.
In the value box, type in your CD key, and I believe the Dashes in between each segment.
From there, ok out, and close Regedit, and it'll save the data.
Try Dawn of War, and see if it will log you into Gamespy. There may be some other Entries we need to make, so let us know how it goes.

I posted on another thread. I was having a similar problem to SlowDan and this is how I fixed it.
I copied the 3 cd's to one folder on the hd(the same folder)
Installed from the HD but told it to install directly to C:\Dawn of War instead of the default in Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War directory. Here is the weird part, the install still bombed out on the Publishing Product Information part, and it did not even install the game to the folder I told it to, it installed the whole thing the the default program files\thq\dawn of war directory.
I told the short cuts to go to somewhere other than the default also.
It installed all of the files, even the exe that was missing before and I used the instructions from above to edit the registry to get my cd key in there.
Hope this helps someone with the same problem.

Hey... i have the game installed.. and i just formatted system drive.. not it says CD authentication failed... i tried typing the reg key ind THQ-->Dawn of War but still the same.. i typed the key with lowercase and dashes.. example: h234-636k-23h5-435h5
Why i dont just install again.. it comes up with a Failed to complete installation Error 1628 when it launches the setup... i looked the error up and tried doing what i was sugested doing.. didnt work out...

HKLM\Software\THQ\Dawn of War
CDKEY is the entry, and you basically type in your key... with the dashes.

Hey Über, I had the cd authentication problem as well. I did what you said in regedit, and now I can log-on to gamespy. Trouble is, when I try to run the update-patch it tells me that the game isn't installed correctly. Is there anymore entries I miss (than the cd key)?
Rasta: The patch probably looks for the Dawn of War install directory in the registry. If that is somehow screwed up, it may not install correctly.
Can you go back in regedit, and check that the value
"InstallLocation" has the correct path to your Dawn of War installation?

I've got a similar problem...I tried to use RegCleaner and deleted the entries of THQ... :(
Now, has anyone the .reg file with ALL needed registry entries (sure i can fill in the cd key by myself ;) ) or can somebody post ALL registry entries needed and where to make them??
PLEASE, I need this .reg file! - if you have it, please attach it in this treat or pm me to ge email adress (wanted to post it but stupid forum says that it is a url doesn't want to post it)
you cant post a URL in your first post on these boards (designed to stop spam bots signing up and posting viagra links or whatever).
Now, the easiest solution to your problem would be to simply reinstall the game. Anyway, heres the .reg file (Ive edited out my CD key - Im not an idiot)

i don't want to reinstall it, because i would loose my savegames,my edided options, etc and why reinstall it if i only need a little reg file??
because it would teach you not to mess around in the registry? :p
You could back up your savegames, options etc if you wanted to...though Ive provided you with the file you need so its a moot point.

:alarm: People it is very important that you type the CD-key exactly as it is. I was getting a CD authentication failed message because I had one lower case letter in my key. Once I changed it in the registry I was able to go on Gamespy. :alarm:
