Hi

Just a quick note to the moderators: Don't move this thread into the bug-forums, it's in now way related to any DoW bugs, thanks.
/edit: Obviously it is a bug, thanks to "SittingDuck"

Well, DoW is my first RTS since Age of Empires 2, and I really love this game. But, errr, there's one thing that's bugging me (apart from the sync and lobby bugs in the german release):
Most of the matches I play 2vs2 or 3vs3 with my mates who bought the game as well. But there are quite a lot of matches where our oppenents just drop at the beginning of the game or some minutes later, without giving any reason.
Did they just forget something important they wanted to do at the same time or does mummy tell them to help out in the kitchen? I don't know.
It certainly has nothing to do with the sync-error.

So what's the mystery about players dropping after the start of a match? Me and my mates are absolutely no pros or "ubermicros", so there's no reason in running away from us :D

Any clues?

regards

It will stay here in the bug forums.

Post your warnings.log file after players drop from your game.

Also, scan for adware and spyware.

As I said there's no bug. I just wanted to know why some players decide to drop after the game has started or some minutes later.

Foxi it is a bug. One of my gaming buds would lose his connection at random times during a match. (vs. AI, so it wasn't a matter of him being a sore loser) Our TeamSpeak connection proving it wasn't his broadband connection going down, a router error, or his modem crashing.

After updating his chipset, onboard sound, and onboard gig NIC we discovered greater stability, but random disconnects still occured just not as frequent. (Example; before the updates 3 out of 5 games; after the updates 1 out 5 games)

Oh, thanks for clearing up.

Me and my mates never encountered this problem, so I thought it was the other players dropping knowingly

One fellow's reported that his dropped connection was being caused by some adware on his system. www.lavasoftusa.com

Another *possible* cause is that some Routers take the amount of network traffic a 2on2 or higher game generates as a DOS attack and shuts down the connection. Please see the readme for more details (on your CD1).
