Hi everyone
I found that I could play the game after the initial install but upon rebooting my PC it wouldn't start.
After checking here I had a look at my warnings.log file and found that it was erroring out because it couldn't find a Engine\Data directory.
I simply created this directory with nothing in it and it worked fine!
Just thought that I would feed this back to try and help anyone else.

Can you delete/rename that directory and confirm the game won't start with it missing?
Did you have any problems during the initial install?

Sure thing.... yep completly reproduceable. The directory is empty when you are not playing the game (not sure about during game play).
I rename/delete the engine\data\ dir and then try and run the game (either using the CD autorun or just running the 40k.exe file) and the HDD seeks for a while and then the CD spins up and seeks for a bit and then - nothing!
My warnings.log file:
W40K started at 2004-09-29 09:16
OS NT 5.1, 512MB Physical Memory
RUN-OPTIONS
WORKING-DIR C:\Games\Dawn of War
USER Me
09:16:17.0 MATHBOX -- Version=5, Cpu=AMD Athlon:f=6,m=8, Mode=SSE
09:16:17.1 FILESYSTEM -- filepath failure, path does not exist 'engine\data\'
09:16:17.1 GAME -- Failed to aliased engine data folder
09:16:17.1 AppInitGlobal -- Failed load for step: ''
Application closed without errors
And no - I had no issues installing the game. I even uninstalled the beta and the demo first.
Hope this helps.... gotta go crush some Chaos scum! :D

Very strange, I wonder why that directory didn't install...

I played the game fine directly after installation. It just seemed to disappear.
