well i was wondering if i could edit my unit/building/upgrade shortcuts and found that in the readme.txt of the retail version:

5. HOTKEYS

Each player profile has an associated hotkey file, located here:

Root\Profiles\Profile (n)\keydefaults.lua

Where (n) is your profile number (you may have more than one).

To edit your hotkeys, simply open this file in Notepad and change the associated key bindings.

Keep in mind that you will lose the hotkeys for any profile you delete. For more information on how to redefine hotkeys, refer to the help text within the keydefaults.lua file.

i opened my "Root\Profiles\Profile1\keydefaults.lua" (yes i used profile1 ingame, got only one profile...) and changed some key bindings. only moved some keys from i.e "A" to "E". saved the file 3-4 times d; (no not as .txt..). that didnt change anything ingame. old shortcuts still working.

even the "help" text inside keydefaults.lua didnt help alot
-- These combos should NOT be changed by the user.
-- They are here in case the user screws up the key bindings file in Root/KeyBindings/

i found no Root/KeyBindings/ ....

also i downloaded a .sga extractor and checked all .sga files for something with key bindings. just found the original(is that the one to change?) keydefaults.lua in "Root/Locale/English/W40kDataLoc.sga"

did anyone manage to get some binds working?
did i something wrong?
all info from the readme.txt -> is it just a bug ?

no idea...

btw: im an idiot who cant get anything right so maybe its me ... and im not a native english speaker so if you cant understand anything blame me....

Well... it should be working for you, a ton of others are modifying their keybindings.

Is this the demo or the retail version?

English or German version?

You're opening the \dawn of war\profiles\profile1\keydefaults.lua file yeah? There's not a second one in the multiplayer folder is there?

I found out that as long as there's something "wrong" with the binds the game reverts to default, just experiment with it. I'd first try something like restore the defaults that you backuped and change only a couple of "safe" values and test... Remember , there are many doubles which you need to change!

On a related note, I'm currently asking help on the general forum about how to get "WSAD" to control scrolling... I see that I could bind the arrow keys for something else, but nowhere they tell what commands control scrolling! (I tried some obvious ones to no avail, like 'scroll_left" = "A",' etc. but nothing seems to work and no-one seems to know the answer... :( )

I'm trying to add a couple of hotkeys aswell. Nothing special, just 0, 9, 8...
These are not assigned to anything else, but it don't work for me either.
