View Full Version : Direct connect - no more than two players?
Any word on a fix for this? Me and two friends cannot play directly - one of them can join me, the other cannot. Opened correct ports, tried dmz, etcetc.

Known issue.
Workaround is to have the host start the game, and a user who's not behind a NAT router join, then a user who's behind a NAT router join.
Won't work :/ Everyone is behind hardware routers with multiple computers hooked up (plus no one particularly wants to take down their firewall just to play dow)
We're currently trying to set up openvpn on a freebsd server we have, but I can't imagine everyone out there has this option as a work around
Terminally stupid. Ugh. Fix in the next patch I guess?

Yeah.
You can/shoudl be able to work around it by playing on gamespy. After all, once the game's started, you've got no gamespy connection overhead.

Schattenhand, what routers are involved?
i have issues hosting with my netgear rp614v2 in gamespy. direct connect i have the 2 player hosting issue. i know the readme does have a info post concerning netgear routers. i did try hosting (gamespy) with spi disabled but still it was not able to host. this is using port forward or trigger with spi enabled or disabled i am unable. i do hope this is an issue with the game and will be resolved for no other games have this issue.
ps - read my post about iatmunin.sys

Yup, that's exactly what I have to do in order to play a Direct Host game with two of my other friends. If we don't do it exactly like that, one person cannot join.
