When I unpluggd my computer from my Dlink 604 router and went to my cabbin where it was 14C I tried dow a final time.

I could finaly play the game for an hour..
So I thought it was about overheat.

Thou when the degrees went up to a more normal degree I could still play the game..

Then I noticed that it was because the router.

The router is crashing dow.

So for all you that get this crash to desktop without any errors. Are you using a router?

I finaly can play this game after 2 weeks of hard work.

Would like to hear from relic/THQ why this happens.

THanks!

I also noticed that dow stresses all components and produces alot of heat.
On one of my computer it still crashes till I opend my case now it runs fine there as well. So for you who crash with a router try unplugg it and see if that helped.

And also open your case check temps on mem,cpu and gpu. Mine was hot as hell.

I notice artifacts in game. Lots of lines trhou the screen in a game. I use to get those lines when I overclocked my old vcard. Thou now I run stock clocks. Anyone know about vga card temps.. My X800XT PE card runs at 55C after some time of playing..

Also for you who posted "you crash without a router" above in this post. Do you get any error log at all? I think your if it´s not the same crash as this one.

Could you please post more info, like what type of router. NIC are u using?

Also could you confim that skirmish games as well as single player will run without problems for more than an hour.

Whats your Pc configuration?

Dominar, it'd be great if you could plug in your router again, and see if it's crashing your game.

Was it crashing in SP mode? MP Mode (Lan, gamespy or direct)?

I´ll bring back my computer on thursday then I´ll plugg in my router again.

In my cabbin I tried both skirmish and lan game just like I tried back home. Thou I first really thought it was overheat cause of 10degrees less here. but after 2 hours Im at same degree as I am at home so It must be the router.

Im using Dlink 604 latest drivers.
Im letting it autodetect ip as I need it to when using my internet connection.. Thou my brother that can play ith using almost same modell on router the only diff is he must specify the ip settings.

I bet there are many others using same router as I am and got this very same problem.

But we will know for sure on thursdat when I plugg back my router at home :)

Thou I still got these artifacts straight lines over the screen.
Am I alone with this thing ???

Thanks!

artifacts and straight lines sound like heat issues.

Exactly, I had exact same problems on my old vcard when I overclocked it.

Thou now im using Exacliburs versions of X800 XT PE ICEQ that should be -11 colder than other cards.

And im runing stock clocks.. so that should not be overheated in my case. Thou I think dow stresses the card alot..

But would 55C gives those lines?
Thats my max C when playing dow.

I NEVER get those lines in any other games such doom3 that is known for killing Vcards....

I just said I solved the problem some days ago about the game crashing to desktop.

I moved my computer from my home where I use a router.
To my cabbin out in the woods without a router. :)

There I plugged my network to my friends computer without a router. Then I finaly could play the game for several hours without a single crash!!!

Then I really thought it was about the router..

Thou now im home again.. I unplugged my router and plugged my network cable directly from wall plugg into the computer.
Now the big dissapointment.. I crashed insta just like before..
Crashes to desktop without a single error log or anything on screen it just shuts the game down.

The ONLY diff from my cabbing and home is:
No internet connection at all in the cabbin. Only connected to my friends computer.

Im using my smaller older monitor, cause my new one im using at home is to heavy to bring with me.

This is the ONLY diff thou I still crash 100% in town and NEVER crash out in the forest when im in the cabbin..

WTH could be causing this ??
Internet provider in town causing this ?
Cause I tried to unplugg the router just to see if it was the router that I guessed.. Thou it continues after I unplugged it.

I really need an experts thought into this one...

Thanks!!

Power is flakey perhaps? Is the wiring newer at the cabin? Try a different power socket at home? Get a UPS?

Try bringing the cabin monitor home and testing?

Mm but if my power is "flakey" then it should happend in other programs/games as well dont you think? It´s an old apartment where I live now so it could be old wires. Thou we got more power in wall than us. More voltage. And I got 2 friends living in almost as old apartment as I am in the same neighborhood that dont have this problem at all.

Whats an UPS ?

I could try another monitor I got at home... But that would be strange.. a monitor causing the crash...

I will also try unplugg my internet cable from my computer to make sure it isnt causing the crash in some way..

This is really strange.
Thanks for helping me thou Uberjumper.

UPS is an uninterruptable power supply... basically, you plug it into the wall, and the power that's delivered to your system comes from it, rather than the wall socket directly. The UPS software will also tell you line voltage info etc.

It is really strange.
