View Full Version : too lazy to fight...
i dunno if this has been brought up (had a quick look through this section and didnt find it), but i get this problem in all game modes (even online multi) so i dont think its just me. some times a hero, relic unit, or even an entire squad will just stand there and do nothing untill you select them. i dunno exactly what causes it, but it seems fairly regular (once every game or two). now i guess its not to bad, but when you use a unit thats a more "fire and forget for a while" unit it can be quite annoying. like summoning a bloodthirster, only for him to kil one squad then just stand there while the other three batter him and you not know it because you're busy managing a flank attack while the thirster is supposed to be keeping people busy. but then usually as soon as you select the unit it "wakes up" and starts fighting (some times you have to manually click to get the unit back into action).
ive found this to be especially annoying in multiplayer games where a unit can be completely wasted because it either didnt attack and got wiped before i notice it, or by time i've fixed the problem its too late. hopefully this can be fixed with a patch if its a common problem? ive not heard anyone else bring it up before though :\

happened to me in a 3v3 comp skirmish...enemy cpu ork had a squad of slugga boys standing frozen why i was shooting at them...they didnt move an inch like they got stuck or something...guess cpu was busy elsewhere

It could be something with the default stances that the unit is in... can you next time look at what stance it's set to... for example, check that it's not in cease fire mode.
happens in default stances... hold ground and ranged/assault depending on the unit. i dont play around with the stances that much

k, if you could, just check the stance on the unit the next time you see this.
Could be that the unit in question has decided to attack a unit that's out of range or that the unit can't move into range of, so it sits there waiting for a gap to open for it to move through.
Saving a replay of this happening would be cool.

I had this happen to me tonight, but didn't save the replay, I will try and do so next time...
I know for a fact, however, that the stances were correct, because that's what I thought "Oh, I must have accidentally clicked the cease... Hmm... Nope, they are right, ranged, and hold ground" :P
ok, heres the reply. 25 minutes into the game i have a thirster attacking the relic south of the centre square. here you should see him attack and destroy something, they stand right next to a turrent and do nothing untill i select him.
couple of things, first sorry its so long :P and second, no need to comment on tactics, this isnt the place, and the ork player has only just started playing that army (and ive only just started playing the PSM chaos army). just two of us having a game for fun, hence no rushing bases and ending the game in minutes.

personally i dont think this is going to show you much, but if it helps... well great. like i said, this happens with any unit (i think it happens with some PSMs near my relic some point in the game) and stances are all default. doesnt matter how they are engaged (ranged or close combat) they dont respond untill selected, and sometimes manually telling them to attack.
[edit] my mistake, its 35 minutes in, same location, and against and ork vehicle building, turrets shooting it but thirster doing nothing
