I've been a bit reluctant to post this because I didn't want people abusing it all the time but since a new patch is being worked on perhaps this issue can be dealt with as well. I didn't post this in the bug forum because it's not really a bug.
There is currently a 2 minute or so window for which a player can quit the game without gaining a loss. I find this feature very lame because certain players continue to quit vs me everytime as soon as they match up. I already have a hard enough time finding a game without these people quitting on me.
What is the point of automatch with random maps and players if players can quit whenever they match up with a player they don't want to play or a map they don't like.
Not to mention the uses it has for abusive do or die strats such as scout rushing or turret rushing where if it looks like it will fail, they just quit and don't get a loss.
A few times I've had some bugged issues which causes my game to run at an uncontrollably laggy pace and had I known about this "feature" I probably would have used it in that scenario. So it does have some uses, but players are really starting to abuse this feature to dodge games vs better opponents and it's becoming lame.
Suggestion: Do not allow opponent to know the name of their opponent until the 2 minute window is up and maybe reduce the window of opportunity to 1 minute or 90 seconds.

I've heard that the window is 2:30.
Its good for team fights, if your ally drops or something.
However, i do agree. Its lame and annoying. People often quit when they see im Eldar.
Perhaps a 1 minute window would be better.
i'd like to play you Fenris, you would win but id learn alot. Been playing DoW for 2 weeks, averaging about 25 mins a day and im 82nd on the 1v1 comp ladder.
Until this is fixed, im going to perfect a do or die rush that i can pull off in under 2 mins.

I say drop it to 30 seconds. If you need to quit, you will know in 30 seconds.
Starcraft had a 10 second cutoff, and that was still abused...

Also a ladder reset will be desperately needed after the patch.

Westwood Online let any player quit within 3 minutes of a game at no penalty or benefit to either side. that 'game' never existed in that case
Dawn of War should have this system too
it would stop things like Entangle exploiters from getting illegitimate wins

just had a game vs a 1524 rated player and he did it after a failed scout rush, ffs?

Starcraft's cut off used to be 5 minutes then they dropped it to 2, was never 10 seconds and you couldnt abuse 10 seconds in sc anyway, you can't even abuse 2 minutes in sc.
DoW is different because of how close enemy bases are and I think there shouldn't even be a cut off, if someone quits it's their loss.
Disconecting should also be changed to a 30-60 second drop window too btw, I know a lot of ppl will say "no don't do that I'm impaitent" but for those of us with 56K modems, sometimes the modem drops packets for 20 seconds or something and takes some time to respond, even tho my games don't lag it happens at times and I get a loss dispite the fact I might be killing their base with all the locations under my belt, hardly seems fair.

This happened to me. The guy I was playing used random and got orks, which he decided he didn't like after about a minute of playing, so he quit. WTF was the point.

Yep, this needs addressing.
The issue about teammates dropping in team-automatch must not be overlooked, however (ie, one needs to be able to quit without incurring a loss if one's teammate crashed/left during loading).

if team mate drops should allow them to control partners armys....how wc3 does it.

or mabe 15 game seconds...and have a kick button for when enemy disconnects...or just make them drop...really annoying just having dc screen and dont get win n just have to wait it out or quit.

Pardon me for asking but does blowing up all your buildings and making it an Annihilation Victory for your opponent count as disconnecting? Or is that only when you disconnect your internet or quit from the Menu? Because that's what I typically do to concede when I lose out on the early game attrition and I feel there isn't going to be a comeback. Especially on small maps.
All I know is it certainly does give me a loss.

well it seems like if u watch ur opponent count out then it gives u a disc too somehow

Please explain to me how exactly Entangle is bugged (i.e. can be exploited)?
I mean Conceal stacking, okay.
Triple plasma grenade, yes.
But Entangle? It immobilizes units. And that is what it is supposed to do, is it not? Or am I missing something of major importance here?
