View Full Version : Missiles/Rockets Flying Through Targets?

Not sure if this was posted, or if I'm missing something...but are rockets/missiles from Infantry and Vehicles supposed to fly through their targets? While in combat or attacking a base, I notice the missiles seem to fly right through their targets sometimes. Even assaults on a base, the missiles seem to go right through the buildings.
Anyone else notice this?

I also noticed it with Ork Tankbustas firing on a CSM Stronghold last night.

The missiles that miss are due to accuracy. Everything doesnt always hit all of the time. Sometimes it looks a bit funny because the missile flies "through" something, but its not a bug.
i havnt seen a missle hit a squad member yet
are they only for takin out structures and vehicles

I hit infantry with missiles all the time, I'm not sure what is happening for you.

Hmmm...gonna take a closer look next time. If it's an accuracy thing...cool. But I swear, at times it sorta looks rediculous. Blasting through a base last night I must have had 3 to 4 Chaos Marine squads loaded up with missiles, just unloading on buildings in the base, with nothing really fighting them....it seemed like not much was making impact. The overhead view might have been decieving I suppose. Will look closer next time. Maybe swing the camera down to ground level instead of overhead view.
I'm experiencing missiles (and bullets) for that matter going through obstacles like walls all the time...
looks kinda stupid

My only peeve is being able to shoot directly thru mountains o_O
IIRC the "shots go through terrain" issue has been mentioned before, and can't be resolved due to the severe stress it would put on the CPU.

yeah the terrian thing is kinda flanky... i guess when you have graphics this good in an rtp you have to give in other places.
i dont see why they cant script in a bit of lino of sight code... after all, they do advertiose that the whirlwind has a special ability to hit targets with out requiring line of sight... they just need to script in terrian as blocking line of sight.
easier said than done though i assume, depends on how they set up their physics engine

Actually, for the most part, missiles move OVER terrain. But THROUGH buildings.
It's not a matter of 'scripting in line of sight.' It's that detecting collisions for all the projectiles going around would hugely increase the strain on the CPU and stuff.
