I just found some info in the game files that might solve the riddle about morale immunity in large groups:

If you manage to get 15 pop units worth of orks within a radius of 15 units, all those orks get a 30% morale regeneration increase.
furthermore, if a mob of 30 pop units is within an area of 20 units size, they are all immune to morale damage.
finally, if you pile 50 pop units in an area of 25 units size, they get a 20% damage bonus.

but here is the problem:
the way the game counts pop units is broken. while freshly built units correctly count for their ork pop cost (ie a slugga squad counts 4, a nob squad 10, etc.) - any reinforcements are not counted until you put them into a vehicle/building and get them out again.

It's the same as if the Eldar could not capitalize on their natural bonuses to mobility, such as Fleet of Foot, jumping, or teleport. This debilitating bug must be addressed as soon as possible.
