arrange the replays by date, name, size, etc., just some suggestions <(^.^)>
TheDeadlyShoe
11th Nov 04, 12:12 AM
FEATURE:
Auto-Description output:
will output a formatted list with all the accessed information
ie say i have this:
http://www.deadlyshoe.com/dow/replayman.jpg
the program could output into clipboard or into a textbox within the program:
TITLE: OrkBaseResilience
MAP: Kasyr Lutien (6)
TYPE: 3v3
PLAYERS:
TEAM1:
SOLID_Ardias (Space Marine)
SOLID_Malloc (Chaos Marine)
raage23 (Space Marine)
TEAM2:
Evilschtein (Space Marine)
Skud (Space Marine)
TheDeadlyShoe (Ork)
and that could be used to save time posting on the Battle Archives.
Also, length of replay and MOD directory would be good.

it not works on my pc :(
application not initialized (0xc0000135) click ok bla bla bla....
I have to download some dll pack like VB library?
shiver
11th Nov 04, 4:49 AM
do you have .NET Framework 1.1 installed?
Kingslayer
11th Nov 04, 7:38 AM
is there a way you can add the BUILD number of the replay so we know if its viable to watch or not?
Great program btw, the directory was awful, hard to tell which film was the one you wanted to see, i meant to post about that and ask it to be added to the next patch ;)
[WHI]Duke
11th Nov 04, 9:07 AM
ok that is the problem... .net framework! Where can i download it???
shiver
11th Nov 04, 9:33 AM
you can get .NET from windows update or just check out the microsoft site.
[WHI]Duke
11th Nov 04, 10:34 AM
ok it works :)
but... how can i start replays from your program??? i haven't seen nothing.... double click not works....
shiver
11th Nov 04, 10:40 AM
unfortunately you cant.
i've been begging relic it tell me how to start a replay from the command line, but they just ignore me.
as soon as i know how... i will definately include it.
best i can do for now is make it possible for you to just start DoW... nothing else.
Mafia2020
11th Nov 04, 11:19 AM
Would it be possible to add to the program to show who (or which team) won the game?
shiver
11th Nov 04, 11:51 AM
hey mafia,
i hope so.
still sifting through the .rec files, but here is what i am hoping to find.
duration
winning team
player chat
badge and army skin images
mini map image
and more as i think of them...
but keep your suggestions coming... the more i get the more likely i am to try harder ;p
and maybe the relic guys will actually take notice and help me out with a few things! :D
MusedMark

This topic should be a sticky me thinks :)
Aramus
11th Nov 04, 12:43 PM
and they should let you in on how to play a replay. it would make life alot easier to have a "replay veiwer"
lets logically look at this. if they give you info you need to make one, then you do. then the community uses it. now thats one thing the community wants, that the devs dont have to make and include in a patch etc..
i mean its such a good idea :P
shiver, let it be known if you get any news back from relic, otherwise I'll just have to decompile ur app for it :P
a utility posted on another thread already has images extracted and player chats, but is limited in other ways
HexHammer
11th Nov 04, 6:57 PM
Would it be possible to make folders? It would be nice if my oridnary games, was seperated from tourneys or other players savegames.
no, it's not, Dawn of War will only read from the playback folder and not subdirs, I'll look further into a very vague idea I have about it... but just take it as a no for now :P
shiver
12th Nov 04, 12:24 AM
dont worry g1bz...
if i get the info i will definately share :)
when i get a bit further i will actually release the full source.
after all. it will only spawn a better app in the long run.
i just want to get the ball rolling.

Our Dawn of War Sweden community member HuginAndMumin, has also contributed with a program that automatically renames all of your replays to their in game name, if you only want to do that operation.
It can be downloaded from this link (75 kb)

Any news on that subject?
shiver
14th Nov 04, 10:26 PM
hey mafia,
unfortunately i had to work this weekend so i've had little time to do any coding.
i will however be doing some during the week and i'm also in the process of talking to one of the relic dev guys. i hope i can extract a bit of info from him to help me out a bit.
shiver
16th Nov 04, 2:22 AM
any relic dev ppl that would be able to give me a hand deciphering the .rec files...
please either drop me a PM or a mail.
your assistance would be a great help to me and very much appreciated.

His avatar is from the avatar gallery, you can easily get one as well.
shiver
20th Dec 04, 2:10 AM
just to let you know...
i am in contact with one of the dev guys.
he assures me that as soon as he is finished with his current project he will give me a hand.
so i should hopefully be able to gather more important info.
like final scores etc etc.
ThE|MaFiA
20th Dec 04, 2:27 AM
Which is the latest version?
shiver
20th Dec 04, 2:31 AM
still only 0.2 :(
i promised more releases but decided to hold back a bit.
no point in handing out stuff half-done.
i want the next release to basically have almost every bit of info that can be had from the files.
unless of course there is something hectically important that cant wait? :)

shiver
23rd Dec 04, 1:01 AM
seems like the dev guy that was gonna give me a hand has gone on holiday (a well deserved one i bet).
so i did a bit of digging in the .rec file again and i've discovered how to get both the replay duration and possibly banner images out.
unfortunately i am still at work at the moment, but if the coding side goes well tonight ill release an update sometime tomorrow.
if not... merry christmas and ill post something in the new yr :)

no bugs with the new version?
Kormus
14th Jan 05, 5:32 AM
Suggestion for the new version:
Make it possible to select the replay directory.
Having a ton of replays stored seriously slows down DoW (at least the access) so I back my last 40 or so games up every few days.
Another idea might be to try to find out if there is a version flag in the replay so you know if it is an old, obsolete demo.
shiver
14th Jan 05, 5:42 AM
kormus,
it may be possible to pull the version require out... but unfortunately its not as easy as it sounds, but trust me. i am currently working on exactly that. as soon as i figure it out ill post an update and wont wait for another full release.
the directory thing is something i kind of had planned for the next version. going to have compressed archives where you can drag your current replays into if you dont want them processed by DoW and then drag the ones you want to load out... what you think....?

unfortunately i am going to stop working on the replay manager.
i just don't have the spare time lately to even check the smallest of bugs.
if anyone should like to look at the source, to either write their own application or adjust the current one. feel free to email me.
its written in C#, so it wont be difficult to understand. if you want, let me know.
shiver out.

Hey Shiver,
Thanks for putting the time into developing this app!
I have also written a little C# app for all of the DoW fans out there. It is called DoW Scheme Editor and you can learn more about it and download it here if you are interested:
http://www.occupyingforce.com/modules.php?name=Game_DoW_Scheme_Editor
I would be interesting in getting the code for your Replay Manager application so that I could learn a thing or two and even release new versions as feature ideas come up. If the offer still stands for getting your code please email me at: beezer@occupyingforce.com
Thanks again for all your hard work!

Hey shiver it is good to have you back with us. I will download the new version of your app and give it a spin.
By the way, it would be fantastic if you could add your in-depth knowledge of the replay file format to the thread that I started here: http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?p=976501
Thanks.

small problem... the only "update-to-date" copy of the source for my app has become a bit corrupted. gonna take me a while to sort through the garbage and get it working again... *sigh* :(
sorry (again!) Beezer. I'll try get that info to you as soon as possible. things just never seem to go as planned :/

To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.
Any idea?
