you beat me to it :P

initial post of said thread:

I'll leave out the details here...

I had 2 squads of assualt marines I was using against a vehicle. Both jumped in and both threw melta bombs at the target. I saw it take two large chunks of damage and the melta bomb icon was greyed out for both squads.

The squads then started taking damage, so I turned on the overwatch reinforce, selected some other units, then came back to them.

To my surprise, one squad had an active Melta Bomb icon again (ie, I could use it again) while the other squad had only progressed through 1/4 of th recharge. I figured I might as well use it, so I threw it at another vehicle then kept the squad highlighted. It seemed that if a squad member died as another was reinforced, the melta bomb ability would be recharged. (the squad was down to 2 members at that point)

The other squad's melta bomb ability was still recharging during the entire engagement (ie: normal recharge time) while the one "gifted" squad was able to throw 3 bombs. While it came in handy in this situation, I don't think that was Relic's intent and I can see how this can be game breaking.

I'm curious if other SM players have had this happen and, if so, under what conditions so that we can help Relic track this bug down.

reply from Gammadion:
This is all correct. You'll also notice squads sometimes "fall out" of your hotkeys.

This is all something that happens when a squad's "old" members are all killed within a few instants of a new member appearing. IE, your 2 man squad has death flying at it, a 3rd member appeared right as the 2 old members bite it, and then the game seems to mentally stumble at this, counting the new (and only) member as a whole new squad.
