Patch 1.10 patching error

I cannot get patch 1.10 to install successfully. I have tried several times (including uninstalling then reinstalling DoW between attempts).

The DoW version I have is 1.0, build 57117.443353

When I execute the patch, the first two screens appear correctly, but are then invariably followed by this message:

"Warning! Error.
Patching error: This patch should not be applied to your version of Dawn of War."

The patchfile I have is "DoW-110-English.exe". (And for that matter, I've also tried "dow-110-int.exe" just to see what happened - same error message exactly.)

Can anyone help with ideas why the patch isn't being accepted?

(DirectX 9.0c is installed, and the unpatched version works without any apparent problem (except for the bugs the patch is meant to fix, of course!)).

You need to patch to 1.01 before patching to 1.1.

Kinda, although you shouldn't run into any problems if you just let the game auto-patch itself by connecting to gamespy.
