Symptoms: The game will crash at random intervals, either to a black screen, a blue screen or reboot on its own without any error messages.
Causes for this problem: Causes may vary, known issues include overheat, RAM problems, or AGP/graphics problems.
Solutions: This is a list of possible fixes. There is no guarantee that they will work, but I recommend you try them out one by one nevertheless.
Heat issues
Open the side of your case. Make sure all your fans are turning and that there is no excessive dust. Cables may obstruct the airflow, so make sure none of them are right in front of a fan.
Try playing for a bit with the side open. If the crashes become less frequent or disappear altogether, you may want to look into getting a larger fan for your CPU and GPU, and/or additional case fans.
RAM problems
Quite a few users have reported success with these suggestions. Try them out one by one.
If you have multiple RAM sticks, remove all sticks except one.
Try running the game on only one stick of RAM at a time, and cycle through all your RAM sticks.
Cycle through your RAM banks with your single RAM stick.
Try different stick/bank combinations
Graphics card / AGP problems
Try these fixes related to graphics card problems individually and in different combinations. Some of these settings can be found in your BIOS, the other options are accessable via your Windows graphics configuration:
Reduce your AGP speed to 4x.
Disable Fastwrite
Disable VPU recover (this may only be possible with ATI cards)
Make sure your card, your RAM and your CPU are not overclocked. You can try underclocking them.
Change the size of your AGP aperture.
