Symptoms: When attempting to patch your version of Dawn of War, you get an error message telling you that "This patch cannot be applied to your version of Dawn of War".
Causes: Two known causes so far: Relic uses an incremental patch system, meaning that you need all previous patches to install the latest patch.
There are two versions of the patch, an English version and an international one. Applying one to the other might give you this error as well.
Solutions: Download and install all previous patches. Currently (DoW v. 1.2) that means you have to patch to 1.01 first, then to 1.1, then to 1.2.

Connecting to gamespy will download and install all required patches in the correct order, so that is probably the easiest way to patch.
If for some reason you are unable to let the game patch itself you can find all patches here (http://www.vorbereitungstagung.de/dowpatch).
