Symptoms: When trying to play Dawn of War, the game throws an error telling you to use the original disc instead of a backup copy, even though you are in fact using the correct disc.
Causes: Dawn of War is protected by SecuRom, a copy protection mechanism that is supposed to prevent people from illegally copying the game. This mechanism is far from perfect however and has issues with certain software, certain system configurations and certain optical drives.
Solutions: If you have software such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools installed, try removing it. If you have access to another optical drive, from an old computer, or a friend or family member, see if you can install that drive and run the game from there.
