Hope this could help someone out there...
My system:
Windows XP ( SP1 )
Shuttle XPC SN85 (The Monster) :D
Amd Athlon 64 Clawhammer / 512mb RAM
Gforce4 ti4600
At least the annoying freeze and reboot / super lag on the intro, has not happened after I did this( in no particular steps.. just do them):
Change screen refresh rate on monitor to max ( on mine it is 100 hertz and make sure I run system in 32 bits colour. And have the same settings in DOW.
Update DOW to version 1.10
Make sure i have the latest direct X drivers. And dxdiag reports no errors whatsoever.
Updated my chipset drivers for the mainboard and windows XP.
(for me, the chipset drivers are at shuttle's web page)
Make sure my drivers for the graphics card was NOT from m$ windows update!!! ,(WHQL drivers) but downloaded and installed from nvidia . com website!!
Also in bios, if you have the "cool n quiet" thing for your cpu and motherboard, i think you should make sure its in "safe mode" but not sure. And if you have an Athlon 64 cpu, download AMD's driver at http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html
its called amd 64 processor driver for xp.
After i did all these steps DOW just rocks! I can set all options in the game to High. I played some skirmish ( for 4 hours now) games with 6 players, me and the cpu, and made sure it was a burnin hell on the battlefield with all kinds of armory and soldiers, and now it never fails, but yes, i can hear the cooling system inside my shuttle is having a hard time :bandit: but.. all works smoothly now!!
Yiihaaaaa :D
