View Full Version : Strategic Missile/Torpedo - Help please.

Hey Guys, I'm trying to create a strategic weapon sort of like the Siege Gun from Cataclysm, but I've run into more than a few problems, if you can help me with any of these I'd be thrilled!
1) How can I make a weapon launch from the strategic (zoomed out) map, if it's even possible?
2) How can I set the area over which damage from a weapon explosion is applied?
3) How can I assign one of the existing explosion effects (for a huge ship say) to this weapon.
I'm sort of trying to make a nuclear missile...

You managed to save that missle file I gave you? I had forgotten all about when you wanted me to resend the data..... Or did you just make a new one from scratch?

I saved it and i made a scaled down version of it [for now].
I found the efx files that you used and i'm experimenting with them,trying to make some new explosions.
What i would like to do is to make and explosion for a torpedo out of the ones used when a capital is destroyed but i can't figure it out:smash:

That's what I did for PDS. HW2 contains plenty of visual effects ranging from cheesy to normal looking to photorealistic. There are even nuclear weapon like flashes of light (so if you ever have this huge antimatter bomb capable of annihilating entire fleets, use that)
Basically you need this gametype called FX viewer where it provides controls to play and select all (2000 or so) visual and sound fx from HW2.
Find the one you like, note its designation and modify the .fx and .events files of any ship or missile to use the fx you found.
