i installed dow, and played it with no issues for a few weeks. then had my CD drive die, so i installed it on my second computer untill i got a new drive in the main comp.

after installing the new drive on the main computer, Sony CD-RW CRX230ED 52X read...... the cd will spin, it registers as being in the drive, game is fully installed still and i can explore the contents of the CD, autoplay brings up the menu properly.

when i try to run the game, from the desktop icon, autoplay menu, programs menu etc, the CD will start to spin, then spin slower, then stop. no error message pops up, nothing at all happens, DOW never appears in teh windows task manager list, CPU useage doesnt spike..... simply nothing.

any help would be much appreciated.

EDIT: if anyone can direct me to an official tech support resource i would be most appreciative, since i ahvent seen ANYTHING for dow... just for the other THQ games.

There should be an URL in your readme.

Other than that, this sounds like a securom issue, I'd suggest you contact their tech support as well.
DoW is protected by a mechanism called SecuRom which is supposed to prevent you from making copies of the game. That thing doesn't really work as planned though, and appears to have issued with some CD drives. See if you maybe find a firmware update for the drive?

Can you check in your Dawn of War directory for a file called warnings.log? If there is one, please post the contents here.

That sounds weird... you could try doing a clean reinstall (use the uninstaller first and after it has finished delete the DoW folder manually, then reinstall from scratch).

When Securom is the culprit, are we allowed to suggest ways to bypass the flaw?
