A new problem (patch 1.01)

Hi there!
i've gone through preety much all postings concerning patch problems, but if i missed something please tell me!!

After playing an unpatched version of dawn of war for a while, i came accross a few interesting mods which all required me patch to 1.2. I downloaded all 3 patches... but the 1.0 =>1.01 patch always aborts giving me an error message: "Error 1628: failed to complete installation" . I checked my available disk space and went through the suggestions on the Installshield website, didn't help... :(

My PC:
Intel Pentium 4 2,8
1024 MB DDR (333)
Radeon 9500 Pro , running DirectX9.0c
Windows XP SP 1

I'd really appreciate any help on the matter!!!

Uninstall, re-install, and re-patch (this time get the patch by signing into gamespy).

Already tried reinstalling but since I'm using an internet cafe here updating via Gamespy is not an option.... But thanks anyway!!
