View Full Version : Some Problems

Alright, here we go.
I recently bought DOW...and naturally (as I do for all my games) I immediatly backed up all the CDs and set them in my little backup disk shelf, just incase I lost the orignal disks.
Well, it seems that situation arose. Through the midst of the junk on my desk, I lost the cds. No idea, maybe my sister took them accidentally, it doesn't matter. I wasn't too distressed, since I had the backup CD. So, I popped it in, and guess what, they don't work. Apprently something didn't burn during the burning process.
Anyway, you can see I'm starting to sweat. No problem, I'll just get a nocd crack from one of my friends (sorry Relic :S)
So yeah, I get that, and the game is running good. I play some single player missions and decide to head online.
I create an account, but when it's authenticating or something...it gives me this notice:
CD Authentication Failed
I instantly presumed this was because of my no CD crack.
I ask a friend, who also has the game, to create an account for me and see if I can just log into that account without it having to autheticate anything. I login to newly created account and still get the same error.
Hoping patchs would fix this problem, or at least give me a hint at what was going on, I search the internet for some. I find all three, and get to installing. The 1.01 patch goes fine, but when I go for the 1.10 patch, it gives me this error:

Patching error: The patch file appears to be corrupted. Please try downloading the patch again before proceeding.

I spend the next hour downloading and attempting to install the patch from various other sites, and none work.

I need help! Is there a way I can get through this CD Authentication? And is there a patch that works!

Here (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=52145) is all the info we have on the patch 1.10 corruption error. However, using copied CDs or a nocd crack obviously isnt what you are supposed to be doing and so you cant expect any official tech support. Getting the patches installed will not allow you to bypass the CD authentification so the best idea would be to find your original CDs (assuming you really have lost them), you will then need to follow the instructions in the thread I linked in order to get the 1.10 patch installed.

Ugh
well, I've tried the methods that you directed me too, and it still won't seem to work...
Could you tell me if the CD Authentication Failed error is because of the no CD crack I have, or if it may be my CD key? I bought the game from my local EBGame's Used Games Bin, so I'm not 100% sure if the CDkey is good.

EDIT:
I found my first CD...not sure where the other are
I put it in and it gives me this:
Wrong Disc Inserted
Retry or Cancel are my only options
I've cleaned the disc twice, what else is there to do?

Yes, it's likely because of the no-cd crack.

Re-install the game from scratch (backup profiles, uninstall, delete DoW install directory, re-install, log into gamespy to patch).

I did so and it's still giving me the Wrong Disc Inserted error...

Are you using the original version of the CD or the backup copy?

Backup...they work for installation but not for actully running the game, so atm, I'm still using a no cd crack
I actully reinstalled a second time, and tried the patches again, and they worked. My game version is now 1.20 and I can play single player and skirmish ok, but with Online Play I'm still getting the CD Authentication Failed...
I bought the game legally and feel like I'm getting ripped off...is there something I can do?

Wait, CD authentication failed when trying to sign in online? You may have entered your CD key incorrectly.

Post the contents of the warnings.log file after a failed login attempt please.

as I said above, I'm still using a no cd crack, since the one CD I found doesn't work, and the backups won't actully run the game (They give me the Wrong Disc Inserted error)
and I also bought it from the EBGame's Used Games Bin, so if there's a problem with the Cdkey, it might be that.
I called them a bit ago and asked if I could return it, and they wouldn't let me.

1. You can't play online with the no-cd crack.
2. Your CD key is unknown or entered incorrectly. 17:38:48.6 GSPeer:ispatch::OnCDAuthenticate - Unknown CD Key

is that's what's giving me the CD Authentication Failed?
or is it the nocd crack?

That error is likely because your CD key is invalid.
