They're point pricey, buying pricey, and over all crappy except for their armor save. So why use SoB?

They are a good compromise between Space Marines and Imperial Guard. They are nearly as hard to kill as Space Marines. Thay also have S4 weapons. The slightly lower stats reduces the cost and gives you more bolters for your points.
And, nuns with guns. What's the problem there?

Meh. I just didn't see anything right off the bat. I really like the look though.

They are nicely priced for what they do. I dislike the fact that they are using the old models bu they are nice figs still.

yeah, they are cheaper than a SM, with almost as good stats. plus, add in faith and youv got a darn good little nun

Bolter Bitches rock!!!
If GW relases new models (preferably plastic ones) I'll start a SoB army ;]

11 Points for Powered Armor, a Bolter, and Faith. Probaly one the best deals in the entire game.
The main reason I like them however is thier background took the coolest things about SM, pumped those aspects up a notch and got rid of all the testerone, superhero, stupidly exagerated "3 terminators against 5 gazillion genestealers" gayness.

Yeah the whole 3 termies versus a gajillion tyranids would be the last ten seconds of the UltraSmurfs 1st company in the Battle for Macragge.

They're nothing of the sort.
Points wise, for what you get, their cheap. OK, so they can't handle CC as well as marines, but that's not what their their for. Faith is their main weapon, and by judicius use of faith, they are more then capable of taking out anyone. Plus how can anyone argue with the amount of Flamers + Melta's it's possible to get in a SoB army.
The models are also extremely good, and they make a change from seeing marines everywhere. They also have extremly good Fast attack units. The combination of Seraphim and Dominions is enough to scare the living crap out of most people.
They also have the best imperial transport/cheap tank, the Immolator. If your not playing Marines/Necrons and one of these bad boys get close, you can guarantee that your losing squads.

basically the only difference i know of SOB are about 3 points cheaper? for less str toughness, WS, and leadership. you still get the power armor and bolter. as someone mentioned faith plus inquistor stuff such as assasins. the exorcist is pretty nice.
plus i think the fluff of the SOB is pretty nice. They were one of the armies i was considering starting when i started playing 40k a few months ago. I ended up going with chaos :fallen:

They cost 1 more point than stormtroopers for a better weapon, better save and Faith. Deal of a lifetime.

What's Faith? :P

Various units generate Faith points which can be used in game to provide special effects like making a squad's save Invu for a turn or boosting their shooting. Used right it's a game-breaker.

Sounds intriguing.

I really liked the SOB concept when the first models were released. They have almost as good stats as a marine, and they are cheaper, so they are ideal allies for a marine army if you want to make room in the SM army (and spend the spare points elsewhere)

yes, have you actually read the SOB codex? or were you just saying that they suck based on their stats...
their faith allows them to do alot of things... from rerolling to hits, invulnerable armour saves...i cant remember them all... used wisely, as cailet said, the are game winners
@elveninches - the only problem is that marines cant be in a SOB army. only an inquisitor can take the marines. so no SOB and marines in one army

I thought that Space marine armies could take SOB's as allies.

in the WH codex it says no space marine and SOB, something because the marines are better so wouldnt need lesser people to help..

So you cant put a SOB squad into a space marine army?? :(

Yes, you can.
If SM is the parent list then you can have SoB + SM, if Witchunters is the parent list then SM and SoB can't be together. It's wierd I know.
As far as faith goes, it's pretty cool. You get a limited amount based on "faith points". Certain units give you faith points by being on the board and give you extra when they die becuase they "martyr" themselves.
More or less there's 5 different acts that can either apply to entire squads or just the Cannoness if she's by herself:
Divine Guidence: get a rending-like effect for an entire squad. Rending flamers are freaking sweet.
Spirit of the Martyr: Very nice Invunerable saves.
The Passion: strike faster in close combat
Hand of the Emperor: strike harder in close combat
Light of the Emperor: Makes you fearless and auto-rally
Theres nothing wrong with them. They are beast. Acts of faith, inquisitors, induct gaurd or bring grey knight or marine allies. They are beast. The exorcist is beast.

As has been said repeatedly, Sisters are more than capable of standing up as a solid force on their own. Additionally, they can come to the party with Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus, and there's nothing quite like Inquisitorial scrutiny to strike fear in the hearts of the enemies of the Emperor! They're also particularly potent against psyker-heavy Eldar and Chaos forces -- an Inquisitor Lord with the Purgatus and Hammer of the Witches powers and two Penitents in his retinue is a psyker-exterminating machine. And don't forget that even the most basic Sororitas unit has a special 5+ save versus any and all psychic effects, something the Marines lack, not to mention that the presence of Sisters renders any force weapons on the battlefield useless!

Are Sob genetically enhanced like SM, cause I read that gene-seed only works on guys, or something like that.

In a word: NO!
In a few more words: NO! they are just normal humans, however their power armour is different from Space Marines, operating by pressure plates rather then neural interface and so doesnt need the black carapace (tho it is inferior to marines armour because of it)

SOB's are cheaper than marines, but almost as good as them with their own set of special rules that are as good as the SM ones. However, they dont have as good a variety of heavy support as the marines, and there are no termie SOB's
