Banners & Badges 1.3

Played a game this morning and my badge and banner didn't show up nor did my allies. I couls see the enemy badge and banner ok. Anyone know of this problem?

I don't. My Trogdor Badge and Banner worked just fine, although I've had a similar problem when using one of the mods.

was using one of hanger8's B&B sets. Hope this doesn't affect all his stuff...

Doesn't help but my B & B's are working fine.

As far as I know it doesn't affect any of my stuff, as I'm using them all and they all work. The difference might be I had to re-install DoW before the patch would take :( . However, the file format and placement remain the same.

Try checking the Banners and the Badges directories, as well as the \Dawn of War\W40k\Data\art\team_colours\ dir. If the files are still correct, try moving them out (cut and paste somewhere safe) of the DoW installation. Fire up the game, go to the army painter and then quit. Replace the files and fire up DoW and see if that fixes it.

Oh, are you using my teamcolour or just the TGA's, creating your own scheme via the 'Painter?

using your team colour i think although i may have tinkered with the colours a bit in the armypainter

I have the same problem , but they show up fine in the painter.

If you've tinkered with the colours, the game resaves the file in your profile. Try either restoring the scheme via the painter or unzip the original files and overwrite the ones you have. I know they work, as the old ones plus several new/updated sets I've done in the past week show up.

I have not tinkered with any colours since patch, so I dunno, might try and maybe save it after patch and see.

I noticed this. my 'claw' mark was fine on my hq, but i saw a blood raven without one on his hq. didnt check the flags.

had a few more games and it seems mine are running OK now, but my enemies more than not have no badge and banner

I dont see my badge and banner in multiplayer game as well. I don't see the custom one on the other players too.

I suspect this may be the badges and banners not being in the correct directory.

Where are you putting the badges and banners if you're not seeing them properly?

No, they are in the right folder. I used to see them without problem before the patch. Now, like Raimo said, I can see the badge and banner in skirmish mode and in Army painter, but when i am in multiplayer dont see any custom badge or banner including my own. The file type (Tga) and size are ok, since i use exactly the same one. So it probably something with the patch 1.3. Its the only thing that have change.

I notice also i can see the download window when the match start, but once i am in the game i dont see the custom badge and banner.

It seems that the flag texture just isn't being displayed on the flag - otherwise the color scheme is.

Got the same problem.
My custom badges and banners are definately in the right folder, they show up in skirmishes, but not online. Lots of other players show only blank banners as well, however I´ve seen a vew custom ones online too.
Weird... some banners get broadcasted to all players, others don´t.

I'm having this problem too. I tried changing banners and badges. I tried creating new profiles using the same badges and banners. My custom ones dont seem to work online though they work in army painter.

I am behind a firewall with 6112 and 'least one GS port forwarded.

I succed to fix the problem. I hope it will hold.

This is how i proceed. I changed the badge and banner to the one already made in the game and i saved the change. Then i went into a match to see if i could saw the basic one at least and it worked. After that, i return into the paint room to put back my custom badge and banner and saved the change. I went into a game and i could finaly saw them. As i write this i forgot to check if i could saw the custom one on the other players which i could not before.

My badges work fine, but my banners never have
Ever since I installed the games, I cant see any banners. All i have are blank boxes.

I've tried re-installing, so can any of you help me?

It really starts getting weird now... Suddenly my custom banners worked online. I could see my own and of all other players. Finnished the match, joined another game without leaving gamespy or accessing the army painter, this time however my banners and the ones of my two allies were broken again. I asked them in chat and they confirmed that they couldn´t see them either. The other team had custom banners though...
Played an 1vs1 automatch later and my banners were back again.
If there is a pattern, I fail to see it.

Using Orks; Badge shows on Boyz in Army Painter, but not on the Trakk. Online Flag shows blank and the badge doesn't show on any unit.

An update: mine were woking fine but every so often a game I play has the badges and banners not show up.

Seems random when it happens but is annoying. I always use the same badge and banner as well from my custom collection.

I have asked players in game as well and they have had their B7B's missing as well.

Seems quite common.

Yes, I'll confirm that update; I've played a few games now, and the banner in particular seems to wobble between showing and not. Mine were built and saved in The GIMP... could this be the cause does anyone think?

Im also getting the prob. In skirmish i see it on HQ and LPs but in online/MP, nope, im also using the preset Black Legion banner & badge which doesnt show up in MP, hmmm :confused: ill give a test on mine as well, pls oh pls work :bow:... :bored:if i can then ill be happy :viking:

the default badges i use dont show up online either. Only seems to affect space marines in my experience. All other races, friend or foe, were fine.

I didnt succed to fix the problem like I previously posted. Like many ppl reported, mine show up sometimes and other times its blank.

Can we have some feedback from Relic concerning the possibility to solve this by our self or if it require a new patch to be completly fix?

Same problem. My custom badges and banners are in the correct folders, and have always worked like a charm both in skirmish and online--until 1.3. I've never had them work since I installed the new patch.
A thought, I know there are new options that can be tweaked under the options box, is it possible there's a 'Allow Custom Badges/Banners' options that is unchecked by default? Seems possible, particularly in reaction to rash of racist badges when the game first came out.
I never host online games, so I couldn't say.

I'll join the crowd of having badge and banner troubles. They're in the right directories (haven't moved since before the patch). They show up right in the Army Painter. They show up right in Skirmish play. They refuse to show up in multiplayer.

I read something in the readme file about having high res team colors taking too much graphics power in multiplayer games. Maybe with some of the tweaks they added in 1.3, now there's too much going on and the game automatically disables your badges and banners to preserve frame rate? Just a thought.

I have saved two paint schemes that are identicle.

Every new game i select the one that is NOT selected from the previous game.


Shows the icon every time.

Here is how it goes, the first time you play a color scheme everything will show up fine, if you play another game without changing your color scheme, then the badges/banners will not show up. In order for them to show up you have to switch to another scheme and then switch back to yours. They will continue not working until you switch races or color schemes. Hope this helps.

i change races and colro shemes quite often, but it the banners/badges are not shown quite random-like.
anyone knows if it helps just to delete the sheme and edit a the same again?

I tried that and it doesnt fix completly the problem Dark_Splinter.

Trikky and JoileMonitor have found a good explanation of how the bug works and how to pass over it until a patch completly fix it.

I hope Relic is now aware of it and found the solution to fix it, because this bug is annoying. I like my banner :P

I renamed all my badges and banners to all-new names, and all my B&B show up every single time. Can't explain why, probably a change to the way online games do indexing or file allocation.

Just change your team colour prior to starting the match, that fixes it. Always.
