what video card to buy ???

i cant decide what to buy an nivida geforce 6600,6600 GT

OR ATI radon X800. X800 pro

there all AGP not PCI

i cant afford a new PCI motherbord rgiht now

take in mind i want to play white high settings and high res.

white no LAG

well any of those cards will run the game at pretty much top settings...so perhaps you should go for whichever one you can find the best deal on.

Depends on your budget. The x800 is faster than the 6600 (generally speaking), but it's a lot more expensive. The 6600GT is available for $200 and outperforms the 9800pro everywhere, it's a pretty good deal in my opinion.

and future games like battlefield 2 can the 6600 handl that

i dont want a super VGA card 1900x1027 and max shadows

i want video card that lets me play a LAG free game white low or medium or off

and res of 1027x976 or one step up

its a good site - just typing the name of any graphics card into google will usually find its review somewhere on the first few pages. Just remember "Toms + cardname" when you want info on a particular card.

more RAM allows the card to store larger textures...but often the 256Mb cards have slower memory than the 128mb versions so you will often get better performance from a 128mb card (strangely). You're really best comparing the benchmarks of specific cards on that website.

It really isnt better when video cards have 256 megs of RAM. In almost every case 256 meg ram card has slower memory, and u cannot tweak it so well as 128 ram card. Personally I would advise u to buy 6600GT, it a great, fast, stable and tweakable video card. It's worth money paid for it. U will be able to play everything on high detail with AA and AF. Besides, why to overpay now for X800, if u won't even notice significant difference in performance. Oh, and buy AGP :) , PCI is said to be much faster, but in theory. For now there aren't any games that would utilise the power of PCI express. Money saved I would advise U to invest in buying another uber card in 2-3 years.

Oh and thx, u were the first to answer my first post on this forum. Wish u GL with choosing the "proper" card.

The 6600GT has the new DDR3 chips, which are lightning fast. It can certainly handle Battlefield 2 with no problems.

Useing AGP X8 will allow the card to access system memory much faster than in PCI mode so the memory difference wont matter, also higher end cards with less memory tend to have faster memory and faster GPU's. Make sure that you have ur card useing AGP or you will loose out on performance.

also how can you not afford a PCI motherboard? PCI is alot slower and less effective. AGP X8 runs at ~4Gb/s i belive, all motherboards have PCI slots and nearly all but old ones have AGP slots too so ur board will definatly have PCI slots and 999 times out of 1000 ull have AGP slots..

sry i havent heard of PCI express, is it really better than AGP? seing as agp is ~4Gb/s, it gives a direct linkup witht he cpu [and so doesent have to wait in a que] and gives much faster speeds into the system memory, whats specal about PCI exress? is it the same but faster still?, [i have no idea what the web sites on about it keeps going off on tangents and doesent wana tell me the bare facts rather than explain how it works, why is it better how is it going to improve playover AGP?

do some googling...the nvidia blurb (http://www.nvidia.com/page/pci_express.html) says that it can achieve speeds which "far exceed AGP 8X".
