View Full Version : The chapel "mission failed"

galic

:banghead: At the beguining of this mission and before I finish building my site, a window appears saying. "Mission failed". To try again clik this or that and so on...
I restarted this mission several times but no luck.
The only patch that I've installed is 1.01 and this fixed the bug in the second mission.
Any help to get me going is welcome and appreciated.

are you playing on insane? If so then you need to get to the second base quickly or it will be overrun.

Patch to the latest version, a bunch of SCAR mission errors were fixed in 1.1 in particular.

Playing on insane? what is that? I'm playing "solo" TBS.
To Moe; I can't download any patches, but 1.01, the others do not download. I'm going to delete the game and install it again. Lets see if it helps. By the way, my graphics card is "nvidia 6600gt". 1ghz of ram and planty of hard memory.

TBS

galic: "insane" would be a difficulty setting...IIRC you can choose between easy, normal, hard, harder or insane. On the lower difficulty levels the base can defend itself almost indefinately, on insane it will be overrun if you dont get over there ASAP.

I'm sorry TBS, I did not get the meaning of your question. (I know that I'm insane, but how did you know?). Never mind. I checked the difficulty setting, and is set to normal. I tried to play again and after a while it gives me the "mission failed" crap.

Where are you trying to download the patches from?

galic
16th Jun 05, 4:38 AM
I downloaded the patches from gamespot.

TBS
16th Jun 05, 4:44 AM
I thought you said they wouldnt download?

what happens when you try to install 1.10?

galic
16th Jun 05, 8:46 AM
I downloaded 1.01, 110, 120, and 130, but only 1.01 gets installed in the game. The game will not accept the other patches. Gives me a warning, can not be installed. Eventhough that the patches are English.

TBS
16th Jun 05, 8:50 AM
what is the exact warning patch 1.10 gives?

galic
16th Jun 05, 10:35 AM
I can't recall now, but as soon as I get home, I'll let you Know.

I HOPE THAT YOU GET IT. i NEVER DID THIS BEFORE.

Ok, do this. Click on "Post reply". You will see the window where you can enter your message etc. Below that there are a bunch of options. One of them is "manage attachments". Click on that. A new window will pop up. In that window, click on one of the "choose" buttons. Another new window will pop up. Navigate to whereever it is you installed DoW (I'm guessing it's C:\program files\THQ\Dawn of War). There will be a bunch of files and folders in that folder. One of the files is named "warnings.log" or maybe just "warnings". Select it and click open.
That should close this pop-up window. IN the one with all the "choose" buttons there is a button labelled "upload". Click that one.
Then hit the "post reply" button as usual (you may have to enter some text).

ok, forget that - just open the log file, go edit > select all and then edit > copy, then paste into a reply to this thread. Dont worry about anything else - just let us see the log file.

Yeah, that's the one. Ok, here's your problem, your game still thinks it's version 1.00.

What happens when you connect to gamespy by clicking on the multiplayer button in the game? Try that and see if it starts patching.
If it doesn't do that or you keep getting weird errors, here's what you do:

Uninstall the game (there should be a "uninstall" shortcut when you click on "start", select "programs", then "THQ", then "Dawn of War". After that thing is done, open windows explorer (press the windows key [lower left on your keyboard between ctrl and alt], keep it depressed and hit e), and go to where you installed Dawn of War. Delete the whole THQ folder.
After that reboot, and install the game again from scratch. Then click on multiplayer and let the auto-updater patch the game (if all goes well, it will install four different patches).

Ok, Moe. I did downloaded the patches as you said, but still getting the same error. So, I deleted the game as you said, and downloaded the patches anew. My saved game is gone, so I have to start at the beguining. When I get back to mission 8 "The chapel" I'll let you know what happens. By the way, the game looks different now and the first mission is different.
Thank you for the help

Just to be sure, can you post the warnings.log again please? I want to see if the patching was indeed successful.

Wow, the Technical disscussion section is so... clean...
My first time posting in this place so please don't kill me!

Now...
By the way, the game looks different now and the first mission is different.

1.3 removed the versitale stance and changed the stand ground stance, I think this causes Colonel Brom to revert to Assault stance and chase the fleeing IG down in the opening of the first mission. He only kills one however, so the otherone will shoot at hime wile he is talking to Gabriel, the other IGs will shoot him(the deserter) down.

Hmm... Mayybe this needs to be reported if it hasn't been allready...

:boohoo: "Garlic here". I'm back, and with bad news. The game still stops at the chapel mission, with the same screen "Mission failed, do you want to restart again?"
Any ideas what can cause this? or should I througth this game in the garbage, like many others?
Your help is welcome.

OK. I figiured out why the mission has failed. For all gamers that may have this problem. As soon as you get two flying units, go over to the south gate. Kill the opposition and then jump. DO NOT STOP FOR ANYTHING, KEEP RUNNING TOWARDS YOUR RIGHT, AND GET TO THE CAMP! After that everything is easy.
Note: Do not make a sharp rihgt.
