"The host could not be found, the host may have quit or there mat be connection issues, make sure you have both correctly configured connections, firewalls and routers."

This error message appears after a long loading time whenever i try to join a game either hosted by or containing my friend. The same happens when he tries to join my games, or games that have me in them.

This did not happen before v1.30 (i'm pretty sure), but the version might not be the problem. we both play through firewalls built into windows xp (service pack 2), and any other firewalls we have inside routers (we both have these).

we have both changed everything we can find in the control pannel, but there is no change.

we do not use the same serial number, cds, ip adress or have any mods/unnoficial patches/cracks and have reinstalled and repatched the game to 1.30 earlier today.

i have not a clue what is going on, and would appreciate any help from anyone

The problem as described by the threadstarter I experienced all day long now...

I wasn't able to join any game except a game a friend of mine opened up. He had the same problem.

I didn't change anything on my system, and I'm sure he also didn't.

The game has been completely unplayable in multiplayer today...
rofl... was actually funny reading all those "wtf is wong with gamespy" & "fuck gamespy" etc..., in ingame chat, but it didn't make up for not being able to play

You might want to check the "Relic - This is unacceptable: (Gamespy not working again)" thread in the General Discussion ( I can't give the url, I get a "Your Post contains one or more URLs, please remove them before submitting your message again." error... low postcount I guess)... anyways, some guy from THQ (Tranj) postet this in there:
This actually does appear to be an issue either on the Gamespy side, or with a change on a larger IPS's side. We are looking into the problem and hope to have this fixed ASAP. Some of the recent issues are due to some upgrading of the servers that will make for better long term performance. Unfortunately there have been glitches in the process that seem to only effect a small percentage of users, so it's much harder to track down. We are actually experiencing todays issues here at THQ as well. I agree that there are no excuses and I don't intend any of this information to act as one, but I do want to keep you informed. Again, we apologize for the problems that some are experiencing and hope to have it rectified shortly.
So as it seems we can just wait and hope that they fix it soon...

That's a hack we put in to prevent nasty spambots from spamming the forums with links to viagra sites. Once you made one post without a link you can post normally.

And yes, there seems to be a problem with gamespy.
Since we already have a thread on this I'll lock this one to avoid confusion.
