Do Any Women Regularily Play DoW?

I can get my girlfriend to play World of Warcraft... which I've gotten really sick of... :bored: but, she won't even try DoW.

RTS's appeal to me more than MMORPG's b/c I don't have to stay online 3 hrs per playing session to have fun & get anything done. Plus, the player's level/strength in an MMORPG is based on how much time you've spend online with that character. It doesn't really mean you've gotten 'better.' Considering you can whack weak enemies all day & still get to 60, it's kinda lame. Best part was the graphics & art, but once you've seen most of it, it gets fairly redundant...

At least in DoW & other RTS's you have to learn how to play the game & every time you start a game, you start from scratch again. Strategy & thinking on your toes is the key factor here. Plus the sight of seeing blood spewing out of an orcs body always makes me smile no matter how many times I see it.

I don't believe it's the violence for her that scares her away. It's think it's the fact that she has no bawlz (testosterone) & this is a very aggressive game. It's either whoop their ass or yours will get kicked. :muffy:

Was wondering if anyone knows of any women that enjoys DoW or other RTS's? And, if they are, are they big scary bull dykes?

If you're looking for dates, do volunteer work, or join a book club. Those are good places to meet people, and there are lots of girls doing that. Also, school, particularly college, will be your best outlet ever for meeting members of the opposite sex-- you'll never again find such a repository of single women as that-- so don't squander it.

But please, above all else stay away from: computer games, extreme sports, and, most importantly, yoga classes, in terms of finding dates. There is NO hope in any of these. Sorry, but that's the truth.

my girlfriend used to play DoW until Guild Wars. She played the Orks a lot and wasn't that bad especially in teamgames.

we have two computers at home and played 2 on 2 ^^

Easy, Deen, because no real man would ever show his face in a Yoga class. You'd get written off from day 1 by everyone there. Maybe they'll be your friend, because you are safe, because you are tame, but safe and tame will never get you past first base. Nor would being a geek which is the drawer you get put in with the computer game angle.

So just avoid Yoga and video games and you're halfway there like :here: :luff: . If that's what you want don't ever even mention or think DoW and women again.

In my experience most girls find RTS games boring, no idea why but they do. There are some (as this thread has shown) but they are in the minority - even if you assume 75% of the girls are pretending to be guys there would still be far more guys than girls playing. Anyway, if you want your gf to play DoW then proving that other girls do it isnt going to help you any - you need to persuade her that its a fun game to play...all I can say is good luck :p

Girls make good cannon fodder in RTS games anyway. Like TBS, i bet most girls pretend to be guys or never mention their gender. Also there are lots of guys who pretend to be girls which is very scary.

Hmmm...guess I am one of the lucky few...my wife has been playing RTS since Command & Conquer....she's damn good...once she learns a game ..she usually beats me to a bloody pulp 1 on 1..

The best way is to ask her to collect Games Workshop miniatures. From there work up on the Black Library novels and finally to DOW.

You should see the amount of girls on a Game forum I go to. A forum for the Sims2 [What i like it, its fun. Don't snigger.] There is a poll there, and the blokes are outnumbered about 5 to 1.

My gf plays as much as I do, along with BF2. My mate's girlfiend also plays.

There's plenty of women playing, but for some reason they don't feel the need to announce their gender at the start of each game... ;) At least part of that is because of the crap they get; either 'send me a pic' or just offence.

Having said that, when she has corrected people assuming she's male, they don't actually believe her! Kinda funny really :)

Same city as you, now that would be stretching it. But same country, especially for places like the US and Korea which make up a huge portion of online gamers, then yeah (assuming this percentage is true for all countries, its probably smaller/larger in different countries)

DoW has aboslutely no female characters or mention of any women at all. It just occured to me that most games nowadays have a female character or two increasing the closer they get to asia.
Just so you know, this suits me just fine. I never like to associate times where i need to let loose a barrage of testosterone induced button mashing or panic clicking with anyone of the female gender. Beating up or shooting women in games somehow doesn't appeal to me, as does choosing to play as a female character.

So far, the only races I know that do not have females in their armies are Orks, Tau, Necrons and Tyranids (though this is debatable since we don't even know if they have different sexes in the first place!).
