well they usually ship items the day before and on a tuesday
then sell it the next day.

Exactly.. the date they list is the ship date - the day it leaves the distribution center for the stores. Some stores will then get it and have it on the shelves possibly late that day (if reasonably close to distribution centers) while others will take another full day or so.
