I just got my DoW updated to v1.4
Like all other patched, i will have to go through the Graphic Tools Option before playing the game since i had just patched over the previous version...
However, when they tries opening the Graphic Tools Option, an error log came out...
Spooge driver not found. Verify that DirectX is properly installed.
Then it proceeds to a BLANK DoW Graphic Configuration & the only option allowed is cancel...
When i close it, it warned...
Exiting will lose all changes you have made and may result in DoW running incorrectly, or not at all.
Do you really want to exit the configuration utility now?
I suspect it has something to do with the new deadbodies littering battleground option that does not tally with my DirectX ...
So do i reinstall my DirectX to the lastest version & if so where can i get it?
I supposed it's free...
Ok.. i have tried reinstalling DirectX with the lastest version which i think is 9
But it still dose not work... any help?
Btw the patch i downloaded is the "not" corrupted file & the patch went smoothly though i took quite a while...
Help plz...

I have had exactly the same problem. It's bloody annyoing. Do you have any mods installed? I was wondering if that screwed it up...
EDIT: Ok, for starters I should've looked at the other threads first, so sorry about that, but having updated my NVIDIA drivers, all is well. I just wish Relic had left out the dead bodies, they're superfluous in my opinion and I wouldn't have had to waste an hour sorting this out.

Great. I just got those spoodge - error thing myself... and now i get told to update my graphics drivers. Great. Should be no problem one could think, but it is a problem, because i KNOW that the newest drivers for my old Geforce 2 Ti cause problems with several games i got and i dont want to sacrifice just to make a patch work, when the game did work before. How i know? I tryed, and i am glad that i got an older driver version where everything works. Or, worked, till the patch...
What is the use behind doing changes that suddenly make the game incompatible with older drivers, couldnt be those changes optional, so u can still play without those new "minor graphical tweaks", that require the support by new drivers? They said those changes were made to make the game run better on low end pcs, mine is definitely low end and it now doesnt work, while it did before. Im not happy. I really beg that this will be fixed, cause i dont want to give up games like Battlefield 1942 which are deeply effected by using Nvideas new drivers on my old card.
Please please make it possible to run the game with graphical options as they were in version 1.3 . At the end we all did pay for a working product, and i did also like to buy winter assault, if it just runs!
Wargrim: have you tried the omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/)?

Wargrim your GPU card is so old i doubt it is directx 9 compatible, they cant please everybody and some folks hardware is just too old. That GeForce 2Ti is several generations (and 4-5 years) old. You could probably pick up a newer Geforce card of ebay for not much money second hand, loads of bargains out there !

@ TBS:
Thank you for the link, but its the same issue as with the drivers provided by Nvidea: It does make DoW 1.4 run, but it completely messes up Battlefield and produces graphic errors in several games/programs. So i had to restore my old drivers again, which makes all the stuff running but dow 1.4.
@ Old Painless:
I know my card is old. I know that it is probably not fully supporting directx 9 functions. But thats not the point. The point is, Geforce 2 series is not only on the list of cards supported by dow, it did work all through the demo, the first version of the game and the updates till patch 1.3. And now with patch 1.4 it doesnt. The game did not need those functions before that it requires now, and so there should be a way to disable them, in order to play with the old settings. If they really slammed that door so my old system is kicked out of support thats not what the demo promised. Thats not what i payed for. It is one thing to buy new hardware if you know before that a product wont run on your old system. It is something completely different if u have a running product and suddenly u get asked to buy new hardware just to keep it running. Understand my point?
Anyway, i really hope that it will be fixed or that someone finds a way to work around it.
