View Full Version : Patching in progress... forever
I've already downloaded the patch from 2 locations but still have a problem with patch install. The patch program just freezes on the same stage everytime I run it.

So I'm asking for advice and some help.

Same here, Downloaded it twice from the European mirror. (That german site) First time the site had a real corrupted patch on but later they had a (supposedly) working one, but it gave the patching in progress forever crap. I went to school today and when I came back 6 HOURS later it was still "patching in progress" Now I'm trying with another patch.

omg... realy? you RELIC cant make better patchs? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: i love the game, but if i cant go to the internet to play becouse your patch suck i hate YOU
The file on that site is definitely working.
Something may be interfering with your patching process. Try turning off your firewalls and virus scanners.
Try patching in safe mode (reboot, hit F8 during booting, select "safe mode" and don't worry if everything looks like crap, that's normal).

... Which had the same error! Patching in progress forever. I quit after the first 2 mins. Looks like the patch gets corrupted real easily in transit or then theres a faulty patch out there...
Then I tried the patch downloaded via bittorrent. AND IT WORKED IMMEDIATELY!!!!
WOHOOOO!! There was no wait at all, the bar started moving immediately like with the previous patches and it went faster than 1.1!
Guys you might wanna go to the patch locations thread on the main page and get it via bittorrent.
Now I'm off to try it out...

get this BT client, if you don't have one already. Works best for beginners.
STABLE highly recommended.

Then go click the *.torrent link to the patch on the patch locations thread.
Hm-m-m... I still cannot solve this problem.
I have already reinstalled DOW and all previous patches.
I've also tried to install the 1.4 in safe mode.
Now I'm downloading the torrent again... Hope this would help...
Edit:
I've stopped the torrent download.
Copying the patch file into Dawn of War/Patch folder and running it from there will solve the problem.

what that defragging means?
p.fom, the patch has to put a bunch of data in a temporary folder - did you download it to a HDD partition that had little space left maybe?

Defragmentation organises the data on your hard drive for optimum performance and can make things stop working if it is not done often enough, or at all.
