My problem is, after i installed the patch 1.4, (everything went fine doing so) i loaded up the game, it played the usual credit screens and then the intro video. However after the intro video when it went to the "loading please wait" screen for a few seconds and then just exited to desktop. Im not sure y this is happening. I thought i may have had to do with the fact that i used the 1.3 mod tools to extract some of the game data folders (as was suggested in another thread to make the game go faster) and it was loading from them. However i deleted them and its still not working. Any suggestions, otherwise i suppose ill have to uninstall and reinstall everything. Thanks for any help.

Whatever v1.3 sga files you extracted, extract them again once you've patched the game. Worked for me. :)

I lied, you'll have to re-install. Sigh... goodbye sweet mods.
1.4 seems to have done something to mods - uninstall, delete the install directory and reinstall and repatch.

After installing 1.4, I had the exact same problem. I uninstalled DoW and spent ALL NIGHT downloading and installing all the patches through the internal Multiplayer Online updating function. Every other version of the game runs fine, but 1.4 causes a CTD just where you said, at the DoW Intro screen where it says Loading... at the bottom. Anyone found a fix to this yet?
EDIT
Got it not to crash. This is what I did.
Uninstalled all mods (including RDN Mod Tools)
Uninstalled DoW
Deleted THQ folder
Reinstalled DoW
Downloaded all patches from GameSpot (much quicker than internal downloader)
Copied and Pasted each patch .exe file to the DoW folder and ran each one in order.
Now, granted, some of that may be overkill. I bet the critical thing was to delete the mods and maybe even the RDN Tools prior to installing 1.4. If that doesn't work, reinstall the game BUT make sure you delete the THQ folder before re-installing to make sure you get rid of all old files.
post a warnings.log and dxdiag please.
