I really miss playing MW2 and Ghost Bear. They don't run in XP though, even with those crappy compatability options on, anyone know a way to get them to work?

First, try right-clicking the Mechwarrior 2 executable, selecting properties, clicking the Compatability tab and see if it will run under any of the OS emulations provided.

If that fails go here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/) and download VDMSound. It'sa DOS emulator intended you let you use your soundcard with ye olde software. It works a treat for most old games I like to play.

Everything you need to know to set up and use VDMSound is at that link.

If the game is one that required some tweaking in DOS to run, chances are your screwed. I've tried and tried to get the original Privateer to run, to no avail :boohoo: :banghead:. I solved the problem by buying a p133 from some guy for $20, and now I can play Privateer to my hearts content!

The problem, as I understand it, is that XP is based on a NT kernel instead of DOS. While this makes for better stability, DOS based games have variable chances of running.

Thats my message of hope.
