I have the same problem as others it seems.
Ive installed both DOW and WA sucessfully but WA wont start. Nothing happens when I click the .exe file, just the hour glass for a few seconds and then nothing.
Ive read some of the previous threads mentioning the same error, and I was wondering if anyone found a solution for it?
I wont post my warnings.txt because its empty. Nothing is written in it when I start.

I was having a similar problem but it actually locked up my system. Do you have a shortcut to your CD drive on your desktop? Because the way I solved my problem was by simply deleting that. I have no clue why it worked, but now everything is copacetic.

Didnt try deleting the shortcut... Tried everything else though.
Ended up formatting and reinstalling and now it works.
A bit like tearing down the garage and building a new one because the car got a new set of tires...... :blah:
I'm guessing something was interfering with that nasty securom copy protection thing, the reinstall probably removed it.

yup i have the same problem as well..
first i suspect is my Zone ALarm protection system that keep blocking WA.
the funny things is my roommate with the exact system and the same Zone Alarm. managed to run WA fine...?
i did reinstall WA twice. and that let me play 2 campaign missions.. after that i guess need to reinstall WA to play 3rd mission..NO? .. (sorry for the sarcasm) :claw:

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I HATE MY LIFE AND THIS GODDAMN ERROR
MORE THE ERROR!!!
A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed.!!!!
3.2 athalon
gig ram
direct x 9.c
goddamn radeon 9800 xt
latest drivers :P
kiteman: try this.
Click on "start", select "run", type "msconfig".
In the first tab, select the "diagnostic startup". Reboot. A window will pop up once windows has loaded telling you something about a system configuration utility - just click the "don't show this message again" box and hit ok.
After that try running WA again, see if that works.

Hi Moe,
your way work.. my WA now can run.. but the catch is there is no sound in game.. maybe because window.. didnt load the driver as the msconfig you mention dissable most of the drivers in my pc.. maybe one of them is sound?? so i turn back all driver back on.. well WA doesnt run anymore.
but the weird things when i borrowed my roommate WA CD and did a complete reinstall of the game.. my Zone Alarm detect his CD and ask permission to start the program.. ( this is using my roommate CD,with mine Zone Alarm never ask anything? btw all of our CDs are original legal copy) and WA can run perfectly now from my pc, no more system lock up at the start.
for now my problem solved, but i just wondering why my zone alarm didnt detect my CD while it detected my roommate cd? i dont want to think that i have faulty CD!!!
thanks

Where did each of you purchase your CDs? You're not using the Second CD to try and play instead of the first are you?

Jumper, why is it that you always assume that every problem on here is caused by the user being unable to walk and chew gum at the same time? this is the exact same problem that has been reported dozens of times on many different threads here. It is not that they can't tell the difference between disks one and two.

Do not post in the Technical Assistance forums again.
To those that wonder why I'm asking which CD a user is using is because after years of troubleshooting, the simplest solution is the one most often overlooked.
Kiteman suggested that both him and his friends copies were legit, and identical. To confirm this I asked where they got their copies from. If that answer was the same, I am wondering why autoplay would work for one CD and not for another CD that should be the same. The simplest solution to this was that he's not using the same CD (Disk one of the expansion), which is why I'm asking the question.

which is why I'm asking the question.
looks like he is having the same thing as other folks are having. It is kinda insulting to ask him that when the prob is not real likely to be something like that. maybe if there weren't a million posts about the same sort of issue then sure but it looks kinda silly asking that sort of thing when there are a million posts about it.

You are having reading comprehension issues, which is another reason why you should not be posting in this forum.
READ what he asked.

He's solved the problem with his dawn of war not installing, and we've moved on to solving something trivial in the grand scheme of things.
Specifically, why did one CD activate autoplay, and the other didn't.

Hi guys
sorry.. pls dont make this as flame war.. as i can see there are alot of people have been affected by this problem.. iam not good with computer technical stuff.. so please bare with me as we all are trying to solve the problem.. :)
as for my so called successfull installation... apparently i spoke to soon... last night WA didnt start again.. same thing as before. the only thing that i can play WA is to follow what Moe sugested. but with that solution WA will not play any sound or music.
my friend and me, we got the same game from the same shop. infact my friend bought it for me when he bought his copy. so maybe it just pure bad luck on my side. that my copy of WA and my PC dont get along nicely.. :P .
and yes uber. i did use the CD 1 to start WA, even if i uses CD2 there will be a prompt that will tell me to put the right cd. :)..
so now i guess i just wait for Relic or THQ to patch WA and hopefully that will solve the problem. if not then i just do the inevitable * reformat my pc... :)

Can you try to go and run the W40KWA.exe file directly from the install directory rather than using the shortcut please?

I had a similar problem with the demo. Do what Moe said, but use selective startup instead and leave on system services (on my computer this contains windows audio). This gave me sound and it may work for the full version too. Now my question is what specific application was causing the interference?
[Edit] Now I know what was causing my problems. If you use Norton Antivirus open task manager and kill the process CCAPP.exe. You don't even have to restart your computer in a different mode. CCAPP is part of Norton, and it's supposed to constantly check for suspicous activity (programs trying to acess the internet etc.), but there's something about the demo it doesn't like, and since I have a virtually identical problem, this may work for the full version as well.

Just disabling Norton may do it. Another fellow reported that shutting off/disabling Norton fixed the startup problem for him.

Hi uber,
i have tried running the game from the installation directory ,also i tried to disable Norton and zone alarm, the thing is.. sometimes the game will run. or sometime it wont run.. it kinda random when the game going to start..
like now i just tried to play it again, since last nite i managed to run the game.. i follow a suggestion to make the W40KWA a window 2000 compability mode, and the game works fine. played it for 5 hours last night without a single crash.
but now i tried to run the game again .. same thing happens.. to me its like whennever i restart my pc the problem will come back?
the funny thing, the demo works fine.. no hickup or anything, but i will try your sugestion boba.

What happens is i double click on the icon on my desktop and the CD rom spins and then the mouse curser turns into a hour glass and then goes away after 5 seconds and then the CD ROMN stops spinning and nothing happens. Look in the Task Man and no processes running from WA. I then double click on it again after a min or so and then i get an error meesage saying my install is currupt. (error message attached). I moved the log file out of the DOW folder and then tryied running the game again and it doesn't create the file. I run DOW and then creates a new file. I have installed this game like 6 times now and each time a different way when installing the patches. I even tryied doing a sys restore back to before the first install to clear the registry but still no good. I did a quick look through the forms and couldn't see anything like this so if someine could plz help i would be very greatful.
Thanks

i got this prob aswell, cept with just normal dow, i reinstalled it, and it worked fine, intill i tried to play a online game, and i got a sync-error halfway throuhg,as always happens for some reason, and then when i tried to get back on it, it doesnt load, on my xfire it says im playing it for about two seconds then it stops and goes back to online!! can anyone help??
Kiteman: my way wasn't intended as a permanent fix, I just wanted to confirm my original suspicion that one of your background programs is interfering with WA.
Try switching off programs manually in the dxdiag program launch tab, see which combination of programs allows you to play the game.
The demo isn't copy-protected, which is why you're not having any trouble with it.

one q, does rebooting clear all your memory etc?
What memory? RAM is cleared when rebooting, yes. However, if the programs are on the autostart list, Windows is going to load them right back up.

I found a way to fix the Alcohol and Deamon Tools Problem. WA checks the registry for those tools in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE. Simply rename the key for alcohol and daemon tools. You can do this with a batch file or a script.

I think I have the same problem as most of these people.
When I click on the shortcut on my desktop, it does the little hour glass thing, nothing shows up, then it goes away. I tried clicking on the two Winter Assault applications in my Dawn Of War Directory, but that didn't work either. I reinstalled 3 times, and that didn't improve my situation either. I tried deleting my shortcut on the desktop, but still no luck. There are also no error messages...
