[DoW] Patching

We had our friend uninstall the GOTY edition of DoW along with WA and install a normal version of DoW. However we have run into yet another problem, in an attempt to install patches this is what he gets.
Freshly installed an original (Not GOTY edition) Dawn of War.

DOW Engine 1.00, Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 1.0, Build 57117.44353

Logging into GameSpy Network using Online button in-game wouldn't allow me to patch, so I tried using the separate patches.

Patch 110 (DoW-110-English): Patching error: This patch should not be applied to your version of Dawn of War.

Patch 120 (DoW-120): Patching error: You are attempting to patch the wrong version of Dawn of War. Please ensure you have installed all patches between version 1.0 and the current patch version.

Patch 130 (DoW-130): Patching error: You are attempting to patch the wrong version of Dawn of War. Please ensure you have installed all patches between version 1.0 and the current patch version.

Patch 140 (dow-140): Patching error: You are attempting to patch the wrong version of Dawn of War. Please ensure you have installed all patches between version 1.0 and the current patch version.

Any work arounds?

*Edit: I just noticed that Patch 101 was not included in his message, i will check to see if hes forgotten it.

yeah that looks like the problem - make sure he gets the english version of 1.01, apparantly the international version will successfully install but that causes nasty problems later.

Im having a similar problem. I got DoW a while ago and have been playing through the campaign on the 1.00 version, but just recently i wanted to play the tau mod, so i had to update to ver. 1.3, but it wont let me. I uninstalled and reinstalled DoW, but it wont even let me install the 1.01 (i tried international and english) much less any of the patches above it.

When i tired installing the english update, i got an error message saying: "1628: Failed to complete Installation."

When i tried with the internation patch, a Patch Error message popped up saying: "Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match"

If i tried to install any of the others it says: "Patching Error: You are attempting to patch the wrong locale of Dawn of War. Please ensure you have downloaded the correct patch for your language version, and try installing again."
But i assume thats what should happen if i dont have the previous version anyways.

Uninstall the game completely, then manually delete the Dawn of War folder to remove all traces of the game.
Update windows to the latest version to ensure that your installer is up to date.
Reinstall the game. do not attempt to patch, instead connect to gamespy by clicking on "Multiplayer" and then selecting "online". Allow gamespy to download and install the patches.
