Hi,

I'v got a problem running DOW:Winter Assault. The original plays just fine on my computer (Dell Inspiron 8600 / 1.6ghz P-M / 1Gb RAM / 128mb ATI 9600 Pro Turbo), but the expansion pack runs so choppy I've had to quit playing it. I have lowered my resolution to 1024X768, and turned every video setting to Low/Off. The original runs smooth as silk at higher resolutions with all the eye-candy turned on High/Max.

Whats going on? I know the expansion introduced new things like weather and landscape scarring, but even with those things off this is aweful.

I just can't run the expansion at all. Even with everything at low resolutions and things turned off, it runs slow and eventually just about comes to a stand still--with things down to about 1 frame every other second.

Is there a patch in the works or something? I really liked the original and was looking for more of the same, but as it is I can't play it. And I can't exactly return opened software to the store.

I have the latest ATI video drivers (and I've even tried older ones just to be sure). I figure a rig that runs Half-Life 2 fine should be capable of a RTS (esp when the original runs fine and this is just an expansion pack)

Did you try cats 5.5? Ones after that are known to have problems.

Well I'll be...I have to DOWNGRADE to upgrade. I just installed Omega's 5.4 and the game is up and running fine. I always liked nVidia for their drivers, anyway.

Oh well, thanks to you guys its up and running. Thanks again.
