port 6667

Hi guys,

After much, and i mean much trying and toying around with my router trying to get port 6667 to work, ( it always would time out in the network tester.) I was at a loss as to what to do.

Just recently however i emailed optusnet (Im from Aus, and Optus are the biggest? or the second biggest internet providers in australia) I asked them why this port wasnt working and this is the resoponse that i got.

The following ports are blocked on our network :

25 - SMTP
80 - WWW
137 138 139
161 - SNMP
162 - SNMPTRAP
6667 - IRC
445 - RPC

These blocks cannot be removed as per our Terms and Conditions.

My question is, does this mean that half the people in Aus are having this same problem, and is there any way to play dawn of war winter assult online without port 6667?


Oh on an intresting side note DOW worked fine it was only when i changed to DOW:WA that things stuffed up, any thought?

hey thanks for that TBS, it didnt work unfortunatly, although maby i set it up wrong soim going to give it another try. Anyway i sent another msg to the tech help people and this is what they had to say about port 6667, because i told him that i was able to use IRC

Hi Luke,

This port is blocked inbound, not outbound.

Similar to Port 80. This is blocked inbound (to prevent web servers) but obviously not blocked outbound.

Does this have any implications do DOW, and how i can use it?

I'm afraid DoW will require two way traffic.
