I'm thinking of building a new system running Win 64-bit. Has anyone run into problems playing Dow or WA using this OS?
Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

Yeah I run windows x64 and have had no problems with either dawn of war or winter assault. Dawn of war actually ran more smoothly on x64. Must be the better handling of RAM that it brings.

Red, TCJ;
Same here (well, at least DoW- haven't glommed onto WA yet); I've had this computer for a little over two months now, and its installed OS was Windows x64. Dawn of War runs flawlessly and smoothly on my current setup and resources at high settings and usually 1280x1024 32-bit resolution.
I don't know if I'd be the best judge of specifics, since I went from a Pentium 166MHz machine to an AMD 64 3500+...still, it seems eerily relevant, so here it is. :)
Just to get back on topic, I've seen at least one thread concerned specifically with getting Winter Assault to work properly in Windows 64-bit if normal installation fails; I believe it's here in the Tech Forum but I don't recall exactly where.

I want to buy Windows 64, I have an AMD Atholon 64 3400+ and Ibelieve that a 64bit operating system would help solve some of the problems that Ihave with some of the games I own. Where can I buy the window 64 operating system?
Thanks Zman

I'm guessing anywhere where you can buy software?
I'm waiting a bit before I consider buying the 64bit OS. Not only do I want some of the tech to catch up and become more stable and utilize it more (Like Nvidia's SLI) but is there not a new Windows OS comeing out soon, which will propbably support or include 64 bit? Windows Vista (Longhorn - Old name) I think it's called.
You can actually download a trial version of XP 64 bit (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/evaluation/trial.mspx), you may want to try it out before spending cash on a full retail version.

Lone_Canadian;
I know what you mean. First off, there are some Windows 98/XP programs- most of them older games (though I submit that Quake 2 (1996) actually installs and runs fine... planning on getting Q4 prior to Xmas, but I digress) that x64 won't accept or even start to install. On the other hand, my rig is very stable, although much of that is considerable processor power and system resources. Zman, one thing you should know- if you have a lot of 16 and 32-bit DOS programs you rely on with your current setup, it may not be possible to use _any_ of them with x64. The only reason I can manipulate ZIP archives in a DOS Box on my rig is that the version of PKZIP25 I have manages to work properly if set=path.
Second of all, I'm glad you mentioned SLI, LC. My video card is a BFG nVidia Geforce 6800 GT Overclocked; both it and my motherboard (an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium) are SLI capable, and I'm debating getting a second 6800 once the price goes down instead of investing in a single 7800. The whole rig was custom built, and the store that put it together included loads of auxiliary cabling, USB 'cards' and even the SLI 'dongle' for connecting two installed SLI cards at the appropriate place.
