View Full Version : Commissar Execute problem

OK guys/gals I have a slight problem. Sometimes when I'm playing a skirmish the AI's commissar performs an execute but he doesn't shoot a guardsman, he then keeps shooting exactly the same (as though to execute, same animation but no speech) but each time he gets fainter, and eventually dissappers, as he is doing this there is no circle below him.
Please can someone help me with this it confuses me so much :rage: .

I just saw exactly the same in a game. It wasnt my own Comissar though, as I was playing Chaos. I heard the shots and saw the Comissar, he kept shooting and became fainter and fainter and after like 5 shots he was gone

It was my first game after the reinstall though and I played with low settings. My SP looked a little odd as well from afar. I usually dont have gfx problems so maybe it has to do with the lower settings?

No it isn't from low settings, my settings are pretty high. I only happens when the Guard is the AI, never when I am playing.

Maybe the Commissar's hurtable while performing the execution, and he died in the middle of the animation.

Its a possiblity, I'll try and keep an eye out to see if it is from the commissar dying in the animation. Hard to see though because by the time he's shot the second time the circle underneath is gone.
I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks for the info.

Brothers and other assorted heretics;

Since Farseer posted this thread a few days ago, I've followed it off and on, and something just occurred to me a minute ago. Farseer, you said you were using the Commissar (I think that's an IG unit) to fire at an Imperial Guardsman, right? My theory is pretty far-fetched, but could there be some sort of undocumented 'friendly-protection' feature in WA that's designed to discourage someone firing at their own units?

EDIT: D'oh. Just read Talesien's message again... unless an AI player can be penalized for it, I think what he found blows a nice big bolter hole in my theory. Sorry for wasting the bandwidth, crew. :bag:

I just thought, the Commissar executes A unit. What if, through random choice, the individual within the unit picked to die happened to be the Commissar himself? It may seem odd, but does this always happen (does this happen everytime?), because it may be an error that causes the Commissar to shoot himself. (You'd wonder why he'd need to execute someone, a Leman Russ can do their job just fine instead)

I don't think that he executes a random guys, its never a sergant only a guardsman, but you could have a point...

I know exacty what you are talking about. It happens all the time.

Its like a ghost commisar. He keeps using the exicute, and then fades away like a ghost, he doesn't die, he just fades away.

it happens far to oftern for it to be happening due to being killed halfway through using the ability.
