The other special weapon for the HQ suit - you have the Cyclic Ion Blaster, but there's a Frag air launcher or whatever it's called.

Airbursting Fragmentation Launcher. The Vespids also have Neutron Blasters.

The Skyray doesn't mount fusion blasters. It will, however, have two markerlights.

Sniper Gun Drones (Heavy)
Rail Rifle

Vespid Stingwings (Fast Attack)
Neutron blacker

This is the same rail rifle the pathfinders uses?

Is it true the Sniper Gun Drones takes up one slot for the heavy units? (Max. 3 sniper gun drones)

What's the str. for the Neutron Blasters?

Half true. They take up a HS slot, but there's a max of 9 drones.

5, from what I've heard.

Yes.

...best...name...EVER!

Truth be told...it is starting to sound a bit...ridiculous. Like the weapons of a "super evil-doer" from a Saturday Mornining cartoon. :|

A quarter true :P

You pay 8 Fire warriors for one team, and may take up to 3 teams in a HS slot. Each team consists of 1 controller and 3 drones, and operate independantly of eachother (much like Lictors/Zoanthropes do).

The Vespid gun is called the Neutron blaster.

Skyrays have the usual hammerhead gun options (Bursts, SMS and drones) for their secondary weapons, and 6 seekers and 2 Networked markerlights for their main weapon. They can't take fusions, and they don't have 6 SMS'.

Piranhas can upgrade their burst cannon to a smart missile or fusion blaster if I read their "pre order releases" thing on GW rightly.

The US Government has been developing airburst fragmentation grenades for quite awhile as an integral component of the OICW, their 'ultimate infantry weapon.' They're designed to be able to massacre troops that are in cover. I don't think the project is still ongoing, but as far as I know the airburst grenade testing was a success.

So that part, at least, isn't too unbelievable :D

It's not. The XM29 (OICW) was dropped in 2004, due to price issues, and the fact that the 20mm Airburst grenades just weren't lethal enough (although various testers managed to maim themselves with them.) as well as the fact that the combined weapon weighed a ton. It then became two different weapons systems, the XM8 rifle (a replacement for the M16, cancelled Oct 2005) & the XM25 airburst grenade launcher (now upped to 25mm to increase lethality)

That's short. 12" only. I don't suppose Vespids can Move, Shoot and then fly back into cover in the Assault phase, can they? If not, I think I rather not field them.

NeoHunter; nope. Instead of a harassment unit, they're a mop-up or strike unit -- 12" move, 12" firing, assault; initiative 5 makes for a possible elimination of that last marine or two in a squad. Their principal targets should be higher-end MEQs -- special- or heavy-weapons units, Grey Knights, etc.

This is the logical reasoning, however not quite the real one. The real reason is the US military was too damned stupid and invested way too much money into the M-16 to outright replace it. When you've got millions in parts sitting around what is it you're going to do with them.

M0thra

Ai, quite possibly that's a factor as well :)

I'm still amazed that the US army hasn't adopted the G36K. It's a far, far superior weapon, and I didn't think the US army was daft enough to get caught using an outdated, tempremental weapon. Kinda like our poor sods then.

So, how bout them Tau weapons, huh? (trying to get back on topic :D)

M0thra

:D Yeah, they rock they do.

*Isn't sure how on-topicness this can get*

But I am looking forward to introducing some cowardly IG to the greater good via the Frag-air-thingy launcher.

Commander Shadowsun (Special Unit)
-Twin Fusion blaster
I'd like to correct this: She has TWO fusion blasters, not twin linked. That and the ability to target two separate unit sin the shooting phase...booyeah suckers.
