Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum - having only just got a problem!

I have had DOW for a few weeks now, been playing it on my Athlon XP 1700+ / Soltek Mobo / 9600 XT and it's been great.
This weekend I decided to upgrade my PC so I bought a new Abit AV8 mobo and Athlon XP 3200+

I did a clean install of XP etc. When I come to play DOW now, it bombs out after a few mins. I get a black screen and nothing else, all the sound goes but it doesn't reboot.

I tried disabling fast write, changing to 4x AGP but still the same. The only difference is now I've disabled fast write I can see the blue mouse cursor when everything else has gone black.

My monitor says "out of range" for a bit also.

I've tried latest ATI drivers from the ATI website, still no luck.

Anybody any ideas, as I really want to get back playing this game!!

I've tried latest ATI drivers from the ATI website, still no luck.

According to your dxdiag your drivers are from 2003 - try updating them again please.

Yep I tried using the ones that came with my card to see if that helped... it didn't :mad:

Ok,

So I've downloaded the latest Omega drivers and installed the WA pack I bought. It still does the same, except I've noticed that it's not crashing as such as I can still click on units and the games is continuing behind the black screen! I get different mouse pointers when I move the mouse around and can hear it all going on.

It played the cut scene for the 1st WA mission fine and then did it as soon as I entered the 1st mission.

Any more ideas :)

The only other games I have are Fifa 2006 and Pro Evo 5 and these work fine...

I know this isn't going to help, but i had this problem too ages ago. When the game started everything would go black or the graphics would balls up. I could fix it by closing down to windows and calling it back up. Eventually i fixed it but (and this is the useless bit) i can't remeber how...If and when i do i'll post...sorry
